Let me start by saying there are several other threads discussing the change and the best way to lodge a complaint is by hitting the Feedback button in car.

I do understand people being triggered by the change but I feel very few actually can't see the speed on the right side. If that is true the seat & wheel position are not set up correctly (not to mention safe airbag placement). I also don't agree with a static car and would like it to at a minimum show brake light application. But I do like the static position of the speed now as it shouldn't move depending on mode etc. I especially like they got rid of the battery meter in Engage mode which was useless. I think most will get used to it and more should experience the awesome tech of these cars including BC as this is one of the best features and very rare in the industry (hands free).

That's your opinion and does nothing to negate mine.

The good news is the drive mode makes virtually zero difference.

Well on the GT Performance Edition there a a big deference in the drive modes.

As someone who's boycotting updates now to avoid 6.8, I don't actually care if the speedometer is centered. I did like it centered, but being left or right is fine when it is a reasonable size. When there are directions or notifications on the IPC (pre-6.8), the speedometer moves right and stays the same size. IMO that's fine. The problem is wasting all this space with a useless static rendering of a car and having the speedo be so small and so far from center. And, aesthetically, getting rid of the cool graphics is annoying.

The *best* solution would be to allow some customization of the layout of the IPC. Just like every car made in the last 10 years allows basic info displays to cycle on the IPC, but the mach-e with a full LED screen as an IPC and now (6.8+) you cannot change ANY of it.

And can we please stop with the shooting down of other owner‘s concerns with comments of “change your driving habits to be like mine” or “it’s ok for me. I’ve always used lane assist anyways”, or “move your steering wheel and position it as if it was a big rig semi truck”. They are dismissive and irrelevant.

I agree, it can be insensitive and frustrating to hear comments like "this doesn't affect me" in a thread dedicated to discussing a feature change or bug.

I'm trying not to be dismissive, and hopefully this doesn't stray too close to that line, but for people who say they can't see the new position of the speedo, it's quite likely (or at least possible) their wheel / seat is not set up properly.

There's no one "ideal" way to sit, but there are a lot of wrong ways, and my gut tells me many or even most people could optimize their seating position. So it's at least worth experimenting with the position to see if there's an ergonomic position that works for them and allows them to easily see the new speedo, in case this change is permanent.

In the meantime, send in that feedback...

Got my update last night. The new placement of the speedometer not only looks awful .... its "a little" dangerous. With my height (5'8") and seat position the left and right side of the display are obscured by the steering wheel. While the new speedometer location is not fully covered - it is partially and gets worse if I move the seat higher or move my head right or lean to the right.

Someone mentioned Tesla's speedometer location as a "could be worse" comment. Well, I'll take that over this ... because at least I can see it!

Seriously? You honestly would prefer to have to turn your head to the right to see the speedometer rather than shift your eyes an inch or two to the right? This is a prime example of one's desire to be right overcoming their common sense. My wife who is 5'-4" can see the left and right of the display perfectly well. I just went out to the car and moved my head up and down to various heights and at no time was the left or right side of the screen obscured.

So sample size of 2? … Might want to take into consideration what body ratio both you and your wife are. The below illustration is a good example of why sight lines can be different for someone other than you.

Sight lines are different, that's why the steering wheel is adjustable. I can remember the old days when steering wheels were not adjustable and your complaint then would be reasonable.

Once again, I feel like Ford could have saved everyone some frustration with better communication. They have a these product managers making big bold decisions behind the scenes, but apparently too afraid to communicate with owners.

IMHO the most aggravating part of this is that it makes no sense to us, and we have no idea why anyone would make this decision. But wouldn't the situation be improved if Ford came out and said something like "this is the first step toward showing more useful information on the overhead car graphic, like brake light activation during 1PD, car faults, open doors and windows, improved follow-car detail....."
