Price Protected Rejected

Anyone else get this? Dealer BS or Ford BS?

I reserved the 2nd MME but my wife's brother gave her the A/Z plan pin under her name. The contract/registration is under BOTH our names. The price protection was rejected with the reason saying it was sold under a completely different name. (??? complete BS)

Did you have your name as a primary on the reservation? We had a similar situation and asked our sponsor to issue another x-plan pin in my name to avoid this fiasco.

Also, price protection might be worth more than A/Z plan discount from what I remember.

Two different things.

Price protection requires that the person that ordered the vehicle be the one that buys it. I don't remember the specifics on whether Sue can reserve it, but then Bob and Sue are the buyers.

A/Z Plan requires that the person receiving the PIN be the buyer. We've never had an issue with the PIN being issued to me, and both our names on the title and contract.

Note - Price Protection and Plan purchases CAN BE COMBINED. Our 2022 that was ordered as a 2021 got us the 2021 A Plan price.

No one is confused here that they are two different things or that they can be combined.

There is a primary and secondary person in a car purchase. The OP didn’t explicitly say, but implied that he registered the vehicle in his wife’s name as a primary given the A/Z plan pin was issued to her. Since the reservation was in his name, the price protection was declined. Given you can’t update someone’s name on a reservation but you can get a A/Z plan pin reissued, it would have been better to proceed that way…like I did with mine.

This is a bit confusing to me but if the person who ordered/reserved the car is not the same person who purchased the car then there is no price protection. Also you can not transfer your reservation/order to another person and keep PP.

Sorry but here is the specifics and some update.

I reserved the car under my name and the A/Z plan is under my wife's name. During the sales purchase, they had to put her name first or else they won't accept the plan pin. My name is ALSO on the purchase agreement but it's the second name.

Talked to the GM of the dealership. This was their first case so took them awhile to get details from Ford. The system on Ford's side only show the first person's name so it was flagged as different person so price protection was rejected. The dealership needs to submit documentation that I was on the purchase agreement and that I names on it are married couple. They say about a month but should be okay.
