where did you get those stickers?
One set came with the AOSK pucks I bought, and the second set was an order I made of the labels only from AOSK, both on Amazon. If I remember correctly, the original design came from 21st Century Pony, who passed it on with his blessing to AOSK at their request for their use, I think, before he abandoned us for the Lightning crowd!!

I have been planning to add some kind of "lift here" symbol and/or paint the arrows on the flat steel area to make it clear where the lift points are. Haven't gotten around to it yet.

Maybe something like this ...

Now I am really confused. I reread some of the other posts. According to a pdf from a service manual, they say not to lift on the square aluminum bar (blue), but on the flat area next to it (yellow), between the arrows highlighted in yellow.

The last method with the not symbols is the way the Ford tech guy lifted the car.
That’s what I said, NOT the longitudinal square box section, the flat horizontal part outboard of it??‍♂

Yeah, most of the dealer technicians do it incorrectly because they don’t read the service manual. They mistakenly assume that the rail is made of steel, but it’s actually made of thin aluminum. Some of them will still insist they're right too. That’s why many of us have warning stickers on that blue rail. My stickers are slightly different and specifically point out that the rail is made of thin aluminum, which should be more alarming to technicians than just a “Do Not Lift” warning.

I deliberately want them to think "Well where the f*** do I lift it then? I'm going to have to look it up now so this guy doesn't freak."

The jack should go where the hole is at the very top of the photo.

That’s a good sticker Lee. Did you have it printed locally?

Agree with Steve, a spreader bar works great, and keeps the actual pad lift spots open for Jack stands once the car is up. I use a piece of white oak I salvaged from a pallet, and cut it to size, to fit right between the jack pad locations. Works great, and can lift the whole side at once. ?

Do you set the oak on the spreader bar pads?

How people confuse themselves or allow themselves to become confused because they think they’re dealing with something different (an EV) never ceases to amaze.

Brains seem to turn to blancmange when they think they’re dealing with something new but which has been around since cars were first invented?

I run my car out of annual MOT Test Certficate, first being due at 3rd anniversary of its first registration.

Was on A1 tanking it down to London so frantically telephoned around and found a garage who could fit me in for a Test.

I mentioned just that they need to be careful jack up on the flat, not box section under the sill when they melted down.

Dragged me out the office to show them how & where to jack the car, and to work lights & steering for them.

And THEN said they could not put EVs on the rolling road brake tester in case is wound up the transmission.

How the F they think the transmission don’t “wind up” going ‘round corners, traffic islands etc I just don’t know, and how many car passing MOT Tests with inefficient brakes is a worry!

Took the Mach E back to the dealer today - Dec 16. Talked to the head of service. He told me they had three techs that were trained to work on the Mach E specifically. But since this was a brake job, a regular tech guy did it. Boss said he should have known how to lift it. They put special pads on the lift arms that fit into the holes. He said they have department meetings on Wednesdays and this will be brought up. He also inspected it for damage. Previously, I ran a four foot long straight-edge along the (blue in picture) bars and they were perfectly straight on the bottom and the sides.

Reminds me that I need to get some green TOW stickers for the tow holes on my 2024. ??

IMG_3090.webp
I should note that even though my 2024 has a threaded receiver for a tow hook and I have a factory tow hook, I still want to have the lime green arrows for the tow holes. ??
