I live in Seattle. Rear wipers almost always necessary
I can understand that. I wonder what all the SUV's that don't come with rear wipers do there? My 2020 ICE Mustang has a rear window that is more flat than the front windshield and when it rains, I can't see anything out the rear but with the two rear view mirrors and rear back up camera I'm ok.

When shopping for my EV I shopped the Ionic 5 and 6. Asked about the rear wiper. Was told it consumed to much energy. I call that BS. I think it was a design flaw and someone forgot about it

Too much power? That is the best laugh I've had all month. With Tesla, I think it is more a choice of aesthetics not to have a rear wiper. I feel the same way (don' like the look of a rear wiper). I drove trucks and vans for years which had either no rear window or ones you could not see out of because of cargo so I'm used to not having to rely on a rear window for viewing.

I had a XT5 and Cadillac hid the blade on the upper portion so swiped from the top. Specifically to hide the blade

I was about to order a 15” rear wiper which is a popular upgrade. But looking at the rear of my car, the wiper suspiciously already looked like the longer ones people have installed. Took out a tape measure and it indeed measured 15”.

Looking at Ford parts, it does list a different part number (WW1510 or LJ8Z17528G) for cars made after 12/04/2024.

While y'all have solved it, I checked with the MME team. Yep, MY25 has a 15" rear wiper. It was an improvement they made, however as many have figured out in this thread, you can extend the wiper blade on previous models with a simple blade replacement.

Love seeing actual engaged responses like that from Ford! It's good to have that confirmation regardless. Thanks:)

Like a 4Runner. But I'm pretty sure the 4Runner does it that way just so that you can put the rear window down. It's basically a key feature at this point.

Just got done installing the new 16” wiper — the first Amazon link above. Visually, I don’t actually like how it looks and wish I would’ve gone with a 15”.

The last bit hovers instead of sitting flat on the window. Seems to have a far better arch when operated though so can’t complain about functionality. Curious to see if the wiper will cause noise when driving later.

Many before and after photos attached.

Side by side comparison. The 16" is noticeably longer than the OEM 12" one. Since the wiper is center mounted, this means you get 2" of additional cleaning at the top and the bottom.

16" rear wiper installed. Visually, you can see how much more water gets cleared with the longer blade, both at the bottom of the arc and the top.

Last bit hovers a bit and doesn't sit flag on glass. When operated, I think the entire wiper makes contact with the glass?

New 16" rear wiper. The top bit protrudes past the glass, but the bottom rubber is exactly at where the glass ends

That's the reason I went with a 15". I debated it in my head for a minute and ultimately chose style over function. Though i'm not sure how much function I lost chosing 15" over 16". But I know I like the look better.

Rear wiper is a must-have feature. Bumped Hyundai / Kia down on comparison list for not having one.
