After the latest update PAAK won't work on my Pixel 6. I've tried rebooting the phone but that didn't help. Really frustrating because it was working great before the latest FP update.

On P7P after updating to FP 4.24.0, the app is crashing a lot. I have tried clearing FP cache and rebooting the phone but it still crashes. PaaK seems to work okay (so long as the app was launched at some point). But it seems to reliably crash every time I get in and start the car now.

The prior version was working great and in general since Sync 4.1.2 and later, PaaK has been much more reliable.

This is exactly my experience as well. There's quite a few people now saying the same thing, so I'm fairly confident that it's just 4.24.0 that's buggy. It was working great before 4.24.0 for me as well. The constant crashing causes PaaK to not work because there's no background task. It's also causing the car to lost the profile, not retract the seat, and not locking the doors on walk away because the connection is closed due to the crash.

Probably the most frustrating update from FP I've seen other than when they cleared the PaaK keys.

Since the issue is inconsistent even for those of us that have the exact same phone and Android version, I wonder if it's a server side issue. If you turn on airplane mode but leave Bluetooth on does the same issue occur?

Not sure but I also wonder what sync version people have. There's quite a few modules that control PaaK and the only time I get the force close issue is when the car is connected to the phone, otherwise it doesn't happen.

I've had quite a drop in reliability in the last week or so with my Pixel 6a (I have FP 4.24 but not exactly sure when it updated). Walk-up up unlock seems to be working as well as ever (which was never as good as a fob) but I've had several times where the key hasn't been recognized to start the car (that's never happened to me before) and when I open FP in the car it crashes. I forget what sync version exactly I have, but I got the GOM update a week or 2 ago.

I was told that a FP update should be rolling out today to fix some of these issues.

That's cute that you think THIS update will be the one to not be buggy/break things that already work :)

That reminds me, I better go update my FOB software to fix the latest... oh, wait, never-mind. I forgot that my FOB just works. Every. Single. Time.

I never said this update would magically fix everything. I'm only relaying the information I received that some of us experiencing force closes of an application may get resolution in short time. Most people that this doesn't apply to would just move on...

If you want to carry a fob with you all the time, then do so. My dad still writes checks at the grocery store as well, and frankly, idgaf if he does. I don't do either, and I'll continue to use just my phone as a key and live without a check book.

A fob is using different tech than a phone though, phone is all BT, not sure what the fob uses. I wonder if NFC would be more reliable for the phone/car although not sure that is universal any more.

Checks? What are you babbling about? Is that some attempt at a 'boomer' joke?

If you want to use PAAK while you and everybody else fills this forum with 'PAAK DOESN'T WORK/IS BROKEN/NEEDS UPDATING" posts, you may go ahead, I'm not stopping you. I just like to occasionally point out the fact that PAAK is worse than FOB. I guess you will feel like you aren't young and hip by using ancient technology like a (gasp) key FOB?

Your dad wastes time writing checks. You waste time finding the latest fix/update (however temporary) and force starting apps to keep using PAAK despite there being a more reliable and superior technology.

You two are more alike than you think.

Some of us have been very instrumental in helping Ford and members here diagnose issues with PaaK. You obviously haven't read through my many topics.

There's two types of people on this forum, those that complain and those who try to solve problems and assist with emerging technology. It's kinda annoying when those trying to help are confronted with those who just want to complain. I call this the Freddy effect.

No one cares if you want to use a FOB. Not sure why you care that many of us choose to use PaaK while advancing future technology.

The problem is PAAK is not an advancement, and never will be. But people believe that if it uses a phone/app then it MUST be better than the previous piece of technology. I guess I'm just baffled why people think it's better.

You joke that your Dad uses checks. Why? Because they are slower and less secure than credit/debit cards, and you think that he should now use the better option.

So I guess what I'm saying to you is... you should stop writing checks.

I think PaaK is better. I hate having to carry a fob, so I always end up leaving it in my car and the car unlocked, I barely like to carry a wallet. I take my phone everywhere, so prefer that being the only item I need. I am at 11 months of exclusive PaaK use and dont want to go back.

I fundamentally disagree with you. In the last couple years, BMW, Ford, Google, Tesla and many others are making advancement in PaaK technologies. We've seen this shift on homes and businesses over the last few years as well, people moving away from physical keys.

I've owned the MME for 18 months and PaaK has always been very reliable for me. There's been two exceptions, and I'm patient and technologically educated enough to help Ford and others diagnose/fix those issues. One day the FOB will be a thing of the past, just like checks.
