Public charging stations maxed at 80%. Normal?

I agree and understand, but simply wanted to get another 5%.
I got limited to 80,and that's fair enough.
Also you cant set your charge limit at DCFC it goes till you or the charger stops, The car will show time till 80% but will charge past that limit if the charger allows.

I'm sorry, but your post is a bit confusing, and I'm not sure what you are asking....

Are you saying that you've plugged your vehicle into multiple different fast chargers (both an EA and Tesla) and it just completely stops charging at 80%??

I'm not sure what you mean by "extending to 85%..."

If you plug into a DC Fast Charger, and it's working properly, the vehicle would charge all the way up to 100% if you left it plugged in long enough....

There is no extending or any other settings you would be setting in the app....
App allows you to set a DC charge limit after you start the session. Lightnings have it preset to 90%.

That's a fair argument, and certainly understandable, especially given the ignorance of many never EV drivers, it seems....

And I should note, I would never charge more than the 80-85%, unless it was absolutely necessary, and not that busy....

But, to each their own... I personally genrally prefer to charge at chargers that don't tell me what to do and dictate my charging activities, especially at $.56/kwh, and when certain charging brands have a shoddy reliablity history, at best, lol.... ?‍♂

But if driver's aren't going to police themselves, and as long as it's advertised by the charger network in advance, I certainly don't see any problem with it...
It’s not just ignorance. Some cars come with unlimited free EA charging for 2 years. Before EA implemented this, those folks would park at a charger and go shopping, eat dinner, etc. They didn’t care. Some Uber drivers with those cars would park at a charger waiting for the next fare even if their car was at 95%.

I see that Tom M. over on his State of Charge YT channel just did a video on this, seems like the program is here to stay and EA is expanding it to many more chargers....

I've been using FPL EVolution chargers lately that will charge idle fees past a time limit of 30 minutes. Seems not to matter what percent charge one is at when the 30 minute mark is hit. I could stay to 100% if I wanted to pay 40 cents/minute idle fee, which I didn't and stopped at 84%.

Where have you seen that. Just charged at a FP&L yesterday with no mention of that.

AFAIK, all of the FP&L’s are $0.35 through the Blue Oval Network.

That's not correct. Just as an example, the Yulee charger shows as 33 cents. Lake City and Daytona Speedway shows as 38 cents.

This has come up before, so to clear it up:

Ford doesn't charge a premium for charging.
Depending on the network, Ford MAY, or MAY NOT, including taxes in the posted price.

EA, and Ford, show the pre-tax pricing for EA chargers.
Tesla, and Ford, show the post-tax pricing for Tesla Superchargers.
FPL shows the pre-tax pricing. Ford shows the post-tax FPL pricing.

Taxes, and sometimes "franchise fees", are location-dependent, ranging from a few pennies to a 27% increase from 30 cents to 38 cents (I found this across from Daytona Speedway).

At Stuart at Cove Plaza. The FPL EVolution app had that message while charging. I tried to initiate through FP but it wouldn’t work that way at this charger. Other FPL stations would plug and charge.

Plug & Charge only works at Tesla and EA...

Gotcha, I see that now.....I wasn't aware of, and have never heard of this at EA chargers being limited.....

I only see a reference to 85% in your screenshot, not 80%???

In any case, to my knowledge, I'm not aware of any similar thing on Tesla's chargers, I've charged my MME at Tesla Superchargers on mulitple occassions, without issue...
Just because you aren't aware of something doesn't make it so.

Here's Tesla's page on Supercharger congestion pricing, including an 80% limit at some stations and times:
https://www.tesla.com/support/charging/supercharger/fees

It was activated and billed through the FP app at another FPL station but not this one.

Sure. You can do that anywhere. P&C requires no app.

EVgo also has its own "Autocharge" (nothing to do with Ford's Plug and Charge). I charge at one about once a month when going to the bay area. I plug in the car and it starts charging. No need to open an app or anything. Last weekend when I was charging there, right at 80% the charger shut down. First time that ever happened so I guess they implemented this 80% Max charging on their chargers also. I am all for this stopping at 80% and that is when I stop anyway. Hopefully there will be less people waiting for chargers.

He was just trying to make the distinction that a particular FP&L charger could not be activated through Ford’s Blue Oval Network and/or the Public Charging app in the car, thus he had to use the FP&L app. Recently Ford had added FP&L to the BOCN and the chargers can be used with out using the FP&L app through BOCN, apparently, except, for some exceptions.
