Question - is this amount of noise normal for cooling system?

Hard to tell, the A/C compressor will make that buzzing noise, but I can't tell if your fan has a bad bearing or is out of balance?

BTW I recommend you leave the A/C set to around 74ºF AUTO, cranking it way down will generate excess noise.
I live in Washington, 74 is cooking. Anything over 68 in the car is too hot.
My house heater is on 64-66 in the winter, anything higher and I’ll be sweating balls.

I’ve had my car for 2-1/2 years. The AC is much louder than it used to be. I had the dealer check it when the car was in for something else. He agreed with me that’s it’s louder than it used to be, but their new 2023 sounds the same.

We know this stuff gets changed by updates, but Ford needs to be more forthcoming about what they’re updating. This crap wastes a lot of time for both me and my dealer.

I don't think I'd ever call the dealer if my AC was "louder than usual". Stuff changes, doesn't mean it's indicative of anything wrong. I stopped wasting time at dealerships.

Only because it was in for something else - I certainly wouldn’t have taken it in just for this.

Most people actually would take their car in if it was making a noise outside of normal and it had a warranty..

AC is loud but I think it's normal. Tesla makes the same "jet engine" noises. I think it's because it's cooling the batteries too. Tesla makes same noises when it's just sitting in the driveway on a really hot day. I haven't heard the MachE do that yet, but wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I'm asking because I have nothing to compare it against. The cooling system fan seems louder that I think it should be (to me). Is this what others are hearing as well? I'm fine if its normal, just want to make sure it isn't abnormal as I had a car previously with a cylinder style fan system that caught a piece of debris in it and frankly sounded similar until I removed it.

This video was taken right after starting the car (having been parked overnight) on a hot day and cooling the cabin.
It was running on high speed is all when it's hot out and you run the AC on max or at a low temperature the fan speed will go to high speed and probably stay there until the temperature sensor for the LION battery and the Motors for your wheels senses they are at a cooler temperature. I don't know if the wheel Motors have a temp sensor to them but I know the LION battery does, any other electrical component used during driving will raise the temperature of the Battery because its working harder, electricity produces heat for both AC and DC, this is also why transformers blow, the more electricity we use the more the transformers work and heat up, and the oil in them will dissipate over time then this is why they explode or if lightning strikes one.

Unlike Tesla, Ford does not auto cool the battery while the car is sitting, unless it’s plugged in. “No phantom drain” is their mentality.

Yeah, I walked by a Model Y on a really hot day one time and I was like holy cow that's loud!

And external heat as well plays a role in raising the temp of the LION battery, yes there is some sort of a heat shield around the battery but it isn't like gas or diesel vehicles heat shields for the exhaust and engine and transmission, they shield to a point but if it's 90⁰ with the humidity at 90% this adds extra heat especially for black top, so the battery is kind of soaking up this extra heat or the temperature sensor is to a point so it will put the fan on high speed, this happens as well to a gas or diesel engined vehicle, especially if there is only 1 fan for the cooling system and for the AC system, most vehicles have 2 so you don't wear out the 1 fan quicker. And both fans could go to high speed as well because most vehicles have an ambient air temp sensor and if you are sitting in traffic on a 90⁰ day with the humidity at 90% that air temp sensor does sense it and the coolant temp sensor so your fans will go to high speed to help keep the coolant temp around 180⁰ because overheating engines causes major engine damage or coolant to go into your oil or transmission fluid. It also warps the engine as well since most in these times is an aluminum alloy. Aluminum dissipates heat faster but it also gets hotter faster, and iron engines retain heat and they take longer to heat up.

Ah okay so if the battery temp sensor sensed the battery temp rise then the fan did go to high speed. Also if there is a manufacturer defect in the fan motor or bearings or with the AC compressor depending upon what brand the and type it is since everything now isn't assembled here in the US any longer, any and all parts for our vehicles are made in China even the LION battery, except Tesla's but don't know if the plates are made in China, I know PCM boards are and the casings and they slap on dealer stickers or they are made in Mexico one of the 2 countries.

All Dewalt stuff are made in China but there are much better quality control for certain things though, even timeken timing belts and chains now are made in China, even the cheaper MOOG stearing and suspension parts are made in China, so if parts are being made in China or Mexico, there will be a few defective parts, just like gm's PCM's nowadays or their fuel pump control modules, always frying for the fuel pump circuit. Cheap Chinese made relays, circuit boards, and resistors, capacitors, diodes and heat sinks. Ford is kind of no better with the non serviceable fuel pump power relay built into the distribution panel. If the heat hasn't really anywhere to go it will fry the copper windings of the relay, at least external relays heat can come out of the casing to add longevity to it. You rarely have to replace relays, fuses on the other hand that thin filliment does weaken over time or if you get a power wire that has frayed and it touches a ground wire that has frayed as well. The contacts in relays get tarnished over time and can form the green crusties, and the contact arm can weaken over time as well but you will replace fuses more than relays.

After one and a half Phoenix summers I can confirm that the "jet taking off" sound is a standard feature. ;)
This jet taking off is nothing like the FFE's Even when charging the battery it was in hovercraft mode.

My one year old 58xx miles sounds like yours too. It has been like that since day one if I remember correctly. I don’t worry about it.
