This does NOT explain how the car can have an EST Range of 252 miles, move from my driveway to the street, then back to the driveway, and 4 hours later WITHOUT any driving, drop to 165 miles........AND if this is NORMAL why has it NOT happened before, BUT happened again today.......today charged to 274 EST Range, drove 12 FLAT, LOW SPEED (25-35) miles........parked, got back in the car and EST Range dropped to 175.......I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE EST RANGE concept........this is entirely new to this car......I mean EST Range 252, 4 hours later with NO DRIVING, in the same driveway, dropped to 165?????????????????????????????
Using caps in mid sentence doesn’t make your point any more correct nor does it make your question any clearer. We get it, you’re frustrated. But you’ve gotten all the answers you’ll likely be able to get from this forum.

Just read another report on Reddit. Someone posted a pop-up message on the instrument cluster (that they also didn’t read), then a sudden downward recalculation of range. Wonder if Ford is updating the algorithm or perhaps there is some reset that is already built into the system.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Range drop? E1752761-D713-4957-8D9F-DF98C7C3453D
And this on fb. I bet that’s what your’s said as well. Even if it wasn’t appreciably colder or it was a glitch that the recalc was done when it didn’t need to be.

using caps was an intention to stress a point, it was not "shouting", it was not an attempt to make a point correct.....no one has commented on what I described about how the est. range dropped about 100 miles in 4 hours sitting in my driveway??..........how could the est range drop about 100 miles in 4 hours sitting in my driveway with no driving???........and I understand the est. range dropping due to cold, high speed driving etc.......I hope you are wrong and that maybe some one has an idea, if not, ok.......

Several of the responses on page one answered your questions to the best of our abilities.

clearly there is a bug, or your battery drained significantly. if the battery didn't drain, the estimated range clearly has a bug - nonetheless it is irrelevant. drive the car and see if the mi/kwh is about the same as before

Thanks for your opinion, I do appreciate it.......% of charge seems to be acting normally, mi/kwh also seem to be normal for my driving style......I took a quick ride to Costco this morning and the only abnormal thing that happened was the EST Range kept adding miles, I did not lose any EST Range miles during the trip, however it is a short ride for me.......I have some short trips to make this afternoon, I'll see what happens.......2 questions if you want to respond, first, although everything except the EST Range seems to be fine, when would you make a trip to the dealer to ask about the behavior of EST Range (it really isn't that big a deal for me, I would wait some), second, do you think a resetting of driving history should be done....I did reset when I picked up the car in Feb......thanks again......

Interesting anomoly. have not had anything like this yet. yeah, I would reset fresh on the range and see if it keeps happening.

I've had the "range adjusted due to temp" pop-up come up a few times recently when I start my car in the morning and had the range drop 30-50 miles on the GOM. This is with it sitting in a heated/insulated garage. The outside temp was in the 30s so part of the GOM equation is what the car thinks the temp will be, not necessarily what it actually is.

Seems from what I’m seeing here and elsewhere, there was a momentary hiccup where the car recalculated range based on a colder outside temp, whether that was real or imagined on it’s part. And now it is recalibrating as you go.
Maybe it was acting in solidarity with my car which is out in the parking lot getting snowed on at the moment . I’m sure they’ve got their own forum on the dark web where they are talking about us too.

I sure wouldn't take it to the dealer for what you've described. Your 'dynamic range' adjustment example does sound like it was bigger than most are experiencing, but also not out of the norm for how variable range can really be. The GOM is basically a mi/kWh times remaining battery kWh calculation. We presume the car takes a recent mi/kWh, applies some adjustments for ext temp (maybe some other stuff), and generates the GOM range. But we know mi/kWh can range anywhere from 2 to 4 (and even outside that window in more extreme cases). So the GOM showing anything from 180 miles (at full) to 330 miles is nothing unusual. Take it with a grain of salt, because it's all a rough estimate anyway. The car simply cannot know how the next 200 miles will be driven.

That is a bit frustrating when you're on a road trip and want a comfort factor for making it to those few DCFC choices along the way. But that's just the way it is with driving a BEV. It simply takes more planning and projecting and adjusting. Headwind pops up? Temps drop? Wet roads? 80 MPH speeds? All those things will lower range more in a BEV than an ICE.

There's nothing the dealer can do for you, it is a known software issue. It is benign, except that it scares some that don't realize it is more "SWAG" (silly wild ass guess) than a "reliable estimate". Mine varies wildly also (as low as 160 and as high as 307 on my route 1), but my mi/kwh stays in the 3.0 (below 30 degrees) to 3.7 (70 degrees and sunny) range. Think of it more as an old style gas gauge with a float that sat in the tank. For those that never saw one of them: depending upon the angle of ground you parked on the amount of gas in the tank changed by as much as a quarter tank.

Wait, did you say snow!!!......how far are you from NYC, I'm on the New Jersey side and today is about 70 degrees but a colder night expected......I remember when my son was at Syracuse Uni. and we drove up to get him end of year in May, it snowed so bad they closed down rt. 81 for 3-4 hours......

Just returned from my afternoon trips, m/kwh the same as I have been getting on those same roads (many of my trips are very similar routes), % charge dropped what is expected, and the odd thing, again, miles were added to the est. range, not taken away......you think any value at all in resetting driving history?......I also agree about going to the dealer, I'll see if it sorts itself out, haha....thanks
