Hey All,

I think that I may have an issue with the rear hatch opening up and wanted to see if this is expected operation or if anyone has had this issue here.

22 Select Mach-E, manual hatch

With the car locked, if I walk up to the car, it will unlock all of the doors. If I go to open the hatch using the external button, it does not work but I do notice that the tailights flash once or twice. If i unlock the car with the remote then the hatch will open fine.

My assumption is that when I walk up to the car and all of the doors unlock, it should also allow me to open the hatch without having to hit the unlock button on my fob. Is this correct or no?

The car does not physically unlock until you open it. The fob/phone must be within 1 meter of the door you are trying to open. Once that door is opened, everything else unlocks.

The hatch is supposed to work the same way. If the phone or fob is within 1 meter of the hatch, it should open. If it doesn’t, it’s likely due to a failed antenna unit in the hatch, or software bug.

Edit - fully answered by Maquis while I was typing.

Try walking directly up to the trunk, and pushing the button, with the fob/PaaK within 1 meter of the button.

Well, most times that works, but sometimes I have to open a door first, then the hatch will open.
