The greatest mystery is why the issues (pano roof and buzzing) are not being caught by QA at the factory. Ford knows of this issue and you would think that they would be inspecting every single vehicle for these issues until problems ironed out. It would take maybe 2-3 minutes as the car rolls off the line. I worked for a while as a QA inspector when I first left the Navy for a company making aircraft parts. If a part was found to be out of tolerance from a CNC machine then every single part was inspected to ensure the issue was correct before going back to batch based QA inspections. This would not be a very expensive thing to do at the plant to ensure these issues were not reaching the customer.
Unless it's too loud inside the factory for them to hear the buzzing, it's completely baffling why they are shipping with this buzz. I'm at the point where I'm expecting Ford to reach out and schedule screen replacements with us early adopters once they figure out how to make a non-buzzing screen.

My car has been in the shop since March 16. The computer is wonky. They say they are waiting for a computer part. Via Twitter, I have a customer service rep in Detroit working with the dealership to see if they can speed things up.

The buzzy screen is on all of them sadly. The people who say they can't hear it probably just aren't able to hear it. It's like that on mine as well but it's not that annoying thankfully.
Good to know that you've personally tested ALL of them, so you KNOW FOR SURE.

Sorry to hear this, @RedStormREHS .
I took delivery last week -- I, too, have the same two issues, more or less:
  • I have the screen buzzing, but it's so faint that I don't mind it. When it's dead silent, I can hear it, but it's a non-issue for me personally. I've almost completely forgotten about it.
  • My pano glass roof is slightly higher (maybe about 5mm?) on the passenger side at the *Rear* of the car, but I have no wind noise.
My advice is to make a complaint about these issues and ask for the glass roof to be fixed, but take delivery of your car if you drive it and notice no issues.

I'll be honest, I'm not going to bother fixing it. I love the car so much that the benefits far outweigh these minor setbacks that are just cosmetic in nature.

Just a thought on the buzzy screen thing. I’ve heard some say that it is effected by the brightness of the screen. My wife and I prefer dark mode and don’t have any screen buzz on either of ours. I wonder if the buzzy people are in day mode with the brightness on high.
The instrument cluster is set to dark mode when I picked the car up, and I never changed it. When I adjust screen brightness, the tone changes, but it's annoying whichever brightness level I set it to.

I really hope that Ford will eventually fix the electric whine / buzz.

Hi all. Very sadly I had to reject delivery of my beautiful Rapid Red ER AWD Premium MME yesterday at our dealer - Ken Grody Ford, Orange County. I reserved around New Year's 2020 and converted to order in June 2020. My family was really, really excited to get her this week! We are completing a major rewiring of our house electrical panels to accommodate two new charging circuits!

Why did I reject delivery? Sadly, my Mach-E joined the club of poorly aligned/installed panoramic glass roofs. It was so lopsided and apparent from a distance. The leading edge of the panoramic roof was flush with windshield on driver's side and lifted up approx 3/8" -5/16" in the passenger side. There was no rubber seals/edging along the protruding pano roof leading edge frame.

I also noted that the driver's instrument screen buzzed loudly when parked and driving at city speeds. A liftgate gasket was damaged by tool marks. I also noticed the right-rear quarter panel was slightly misaligned next to talelight (minor).

The salesman acknowledged the pano roof issue and said maybe a glass shop could fix it but couldn't promise anything. He would sell the car 100% as-is by today. I am really sad to walk away from such an awesome EV in a beautiful color. My test drive was great! No rattles, squeaks, etc... just buzzing screen area which salesman said was normal.

I was told that their business offices would be in touch with me next week about my deposit. What should I do? I really want my MME but want zero major quality issues -- at least ones that you can see and obviously Ford hasn't addressed just yet!?? Ugggggggg. What should I do? My entire family is totally disappointed and sad! Did Ford just ignore it? Ugggggg!

I did not accept mine either. I have the same roof problem. Dealer will tell me tomorrow what will be done. I am without a car for now because I sold my car the day of delivery that did not happen.

It was worth a shot.

I tried to hear the buzz by switching to light mode on the display and I still cannot hear it, but I do hear the faint buzz of what I assume is the battery cooling system and can feel that vibration in the steering wheel. But that noise seems loud enough that it would drown out a faint buzz from the instrument cluster, and I am not sure how to eliminate that noise in order to listen for the instrument cluster noise. Are people who hear the Cluster Buzz™ also hearing the other buzz? Or are you somehow managing eliminate it?

I would speculate that different displays have different amounts of whine, which affect different drivers differently. Same whine can bother some but not others, still others cannot hear it at all, but that does not mean it is nonexistent.

I commonly hear high frequency whine that most others cannot. Used to hear it often at traffic signals when I was a kid, rest of the family heard nothing at all. I clearly heard the whine when people posted audio clips early on. I did not hear it at all in the FCTP car I test drove. My FE has a very slight whine that I can only hear when I put my ear close to the steering wheel.

I sympathize with those experiencing loud whine since I know how annoying it is for me. I feel that if this bothers *any* customer, Ford should make it right for that customer.

All NVH concerns are incredibly subjective. Two different people can drive the same car and have vastly different opinions.
Personally I rarely perceive light vibrations in vehicles. Customers would take me for road tests all the time and say 'You don't feel that?', and the answer was no I don't feel anything. They finally stopped giving me ROs with vibration complaints.

Dark and light mode are only picture differences. The buzz probably changes with the backlight at different intensities. The mode does not change the brightness setting.

Can any Ford assemblyworker effectively shut or slow the line down and stop production for any major flaws? Some automakers embrace this practice.

The car makes loud buzz when plugged in. I assume that's what you're describing. Unplug the car to hear the electrical whine/buzz from the instrument cluster.

On the vehicle I test drove the glass roof was misaligned as was the rear trunk - both had visible uneven body gaps. Ford has never had a reputation for the best fit and finish - too bad they didn't do anything to improve things, despite their senior executives constantly talking about poor fit and finish on Teslas.
