Did something change perhaps after the 12V Recall where when Remote Starting outside of Preferred Charge times it not longer pulls power from shore power? My charger doesn't turn on anymore to warm or cool cabin when remote starting. Tired a few different EVSEs. Anyone else?

I noticed today that I was a couple percent under my max charge setting after using remote climate, not within my charging hours so assuming it was using battery. Don't recall ever seeing that before.

Any advice for how to get it to pull from shore power while running climate before a drive?
Right now my process is: 1) Plug in to wall charger (Wallbox) at night. 2) Use Ford app to start Climate 5-15 mins before a drive. 3) Drive.
I don't have any preferred charging times set because I don't have variable rate electricity.
It's cold here (Philly) now so ideally I'd like it to pull from the wall for climate.

@Mike G I know you have the latest updates. Does yours pull from shore power on remote start? Perhaps the new OBCC fixes this or any other update that have arrived since. I believe the Recall update broke this.

@JayRose my process is to start climate, and then set a one-time charge limit to 100%. It usually only adds a few percent by the time I leave, but it has the added benefit of partially preconditioning the battery before I drive.

Good idea, thanks. That also avoids all these charge windows and getting the wall charger to cooperate, etc.

May be what you said but yes the workaround is to hit Start Charging in app if you are outside of preferred charge times. I don't change the percentage it just automatically goes to 100%.

I park in a heated garage and have uniform electric rates for all hours so not an issue. But my question would be why have a charge window unless you are getting lower rates during that time? And if that is the case why not use the cheaper power that was provided to do your remote climate? This assumes regular driving which will not deplete the HVB before next home charge. Just my thoughts.

I do preferred charge times Midnight to 8AM for several reasons. I park outside & overnight is cooler during summer for battery and charger & colder in winter so keeps battery warmer charging over night. I only have 100amp service at my home so least amount of appliances and AC running overnight. Finally If I have multiple or unexpected drives during the day I'd rather not have multiple short charge sessions.

I did this yesterday (I have a Wallbox as well) and when I started climate before leaving the house (and unplugging) the external LED chicklets were all still blue while climate was running. So I'm guessing it was running off of the EVSE. When I unplugged and started off, I was at the 90% I normally charge to...so I guess it was powering the climate....

Last winter I know that when the car or the truck were plugged in and I remoted the climate to on, it seemed to be running from the wall, not the HVB. That's not really conclusive, though. Just my assumption that it was doing what it was supposed to do.

Do you have preferred charge times though? It may work correctly if you don't. OR a subsequent update corrected this. Has there only been OBCC since the recall? Oh and the blue lights stay on about 30s or so then turn off so check again to see if they are still lighted while remote started. Thanks!

I have no preferred charge times (.11 kWh 24/7/365). There was an OBCC update this year if I remember correctly, like 6 months ago maybe? I will go turn climate on now and check to see if the chicklets stay on....I thought they did as long as the car was plugged in and juice was flowing.
