In a previous post I talked about having the tip of 2 of my window buttons snap off. Car has 37K miles and ford told me to pound sand when I told them they should cover the repair.

The parts are less than $20/each but the dealer want $500 to replace them, given you have to take the door apart to get to them. I looked up videos on how to do this online, didn't seem that hard - anyone ever tried to take the inside of the door apart?

Many here have removed their door trim panels (including me many times) for one reason or another. Speaker replacement, sound deadening, adding ambient lighting, replace door modules, window switches, door presenters, fix rattles, etc. Once you remove the door trim panel, replacing the window control switch assembly is very easy.

You can buy a pack of 8 tips from most dealers/online. It's fairly cheap I think I paid $14-20 for the pack. You just slide out the old one and put the new one in. It slides out fairly easy, I didn't find too many instructions online but it was easy to pull out.

Thanks! I can't find those online - do you have a link to them?

I had a couple of the chrome tips snap on the window buttons on my drivers door, and the dealer replaced them in like 10mins during an unrelated warranty trip.

Apparently it’s a relatively quick fix just requiring some pliers.

These were helpful for me. I need to swap my driver door panel due to damage. I found one that should work. I am wondering what comes apart on the door panel though? Speaker cover? switches? what about the lower kick panel? Does any of that come apart?

Thank you...

You can remove the speaker grill and all switches. Everything else is plastic welded to the door panel. This possible to remove the other trim parts but would have to glue/olastic weld back on.

One of mine broke off and Ford covered it under warranty. I guess it depends on how good your dealer is at convincing Ford that it's not abuse or misuse. Pretty hard to misuse a window button.

Thanks. To swap the speaker cover from B&O to base, do I need to tear off some white paper sort of thing on the back?

Actually, my door panel has some unfortunate damage and I need to change it. Well want to…. So was wondering about grabbing a wrecker one and changing some things out.

No white thing on the back. Behind the door panel remove screws that attach the speaker grille to the front.
