@Ford Motor Company should be ashamed that they've developed Pet Mode but haven't yet rolled it out to MME owners. Tesla has had Dog Mode in all its vehicles from Day One!

Here's an example of why this is important: Last night I walked the dogs on the beach and then went to dinner at a local restaurant. The dogs are perfectly comfortable sleeping in the car while I'm at dinner; they do it in my Tesla all the time.

But I couldn't take my MME last night because Ford still hasn't rolled out Pet Mode. Since you can't turn off the internal sensors (like I can in my Ford F150), the locked car will alarm every time when the dogs are inside.

Yes, there's a workaround but the point is we shouldn't have to rely on that. A non-trivial percentage of MME customers are dog owners, so this needs to be a high priority for Ford!

I would love to have a pet mode personally. It's not a huge deal for me but it doesn't seem that challenging given others can roll it out from the early stages.

To me this is kind of a symptom of this car. Perhaps to my ignorance I expected and/or believed Ford marketing that this car would be closer to cutting edge like Tesla, Rivian, etc. I didn't expect them to keep up with Tesla but it seems to me that Ford way under-invested in software.

How do you know they have it developed? I feel like they probably have a lot developed but are going to roll it out with the new refreshed interface

you bought the car with the knowledge that it didn’t have any sort of pet mode. So now you feel that ford should be ashamed at themselves for not releasing a feature that you assumed they have developed. Now it has became a gigantic inconvenience to you. what…?

Ford has been working on getting all vehicles up to date and to have BlueCruise. Both something people complain about vociferously.

They probably have to get through those first.

Rivian has about 4K vehicles in the wild to work with, probably with very similar software. Ford has a lot more Mach Es.

I agree. You bought the car as it is/was. Don't complain about features it does not have since you are the one who made the decision to buy it. IF you don't like it, then sell it. There is a line of buyers wanting this car.

The “work around” isn’t overly complex. You leave the ignition on, disable auto shutdown and you take your phone/key and lock the door.
This is simple and I use this to keep the Mach E and my Bolt cool while shopping. I do not take pets with me in the car, except to the vet.

Tesla and Rivian do not have the on/off buttons and turn the car off automatically, that is why they need the special mode.

Can a software feature really be rolled out when a vehicle is not yet in production and delivery? ?

Rivian doesn't have a start button. The Mach-E does. We are able to start the car and leave the A/C running. Isn't that the exact same thing as dog mode?

The reason we were expecting our cars to get better over time, is because Jim Farley promised this, to be competitive with Tesla. I get why the OP feels let down. Lot of talk, no action. This was 1.5 years ago, still waiting.
