I get my new car today and looking at going on road trip in 3 days. I have the 310 range and town is 222 miles with plenty of chargers.
I am alittle nervous given I will have car for 3 days. I plan to read manual and sign up for Ford Any other advice or concerns?

Yes... enjoy the ride!
No need for range anxiety. It'll get you there easy.

My recommendation is to be prepared. Not sure of your status, i.e. have you owned a (non-Tesla) EV before?

Perhaps you already know, but the charging infrastructure is not at the point of what's familar with gas vehicles - wait until near empty and find a gas station.

Assuming this is brand new to you:
  1. Know about charging, e.g. this introductory video.
  2. Know the charging vendors, mainly Electrify America. Install the EA phone app, unless you can work entirely from Plug&Charge credits in the FordPass app.
  3. Maybe it's just me, but I would do a trial charge before the trip. Find an Electrify America charger near home and go through the process.
  4. Know your route, and make a charger your destination in the Ford Navigation. Research with ABRP and Plugshare to be sure you select a charger where people are currently having good results.

While you should get there just fine, here are a couple considerations regarding range:

1) how much driving will you do when you arrive at your destination?
2) how will you charge for your return trip?

The answers to these two questions will greatly inform your planning process.

Have fun! It’s a great car!!

I had to drive home from Huntington Beach to the Bay Area after I got my MME.

I had no choice but to jump right in and do a road trip. My Escape died on me when I was down south.

I just put my address in the Ford navigation and it gave me 3 routes to choose from. I chose the 101 route and it worked great. It directed me to 3 in network charge stations along the route to get home.

I had no complaints with Fords navigation system. I don’t have any experience with the other apps folks are using.

Input your destination and enjoy your trip. It will tell you if you need to charge to get to your destination.

1. Bring chocolate chip cookies
2. Bring BBQ Fritos
3. Mini cooler for beverages
4. Don't charge past 80% on trips
5. Install Plugshare App
6. Always leave a backup plan for chargers on the road. I let my car get down to 10 miles and found the chargers all out when I arrived. I had to spend 2 hours at a Ford dealer on a level 2 charger

Have a great trip. Fortunately, there are many chargers in most of CA.

IME, any of the charge service apps have better reliability of information regarding status and availability than Ford Pass. YMMV

This will work, …. Until it doesn’t. If you want to just roll the dice and spend zero time planning, and you lead a charmed life, then life will be great! The glitch to that plan is the broken chargers In the real world. In my own experience, it pays to do a little preflight planning, like using PlugShare app on your phone to see if your planned charging locations actually have functioning chargers. There’s a lot of broken ones out there. Good luck!

You got lucky. And California has more chargers than anywhere else.

Ford's navigation will often route to broken chargers, or level 2 chargers. It's good to also check with an app like ABRP, and to verify chargers with PlugShare.

I see that the Ford navigation system is not popular.

I only had my MME a couple of days when I had to road trip home. I didn’t know hardly anything about the EV world. I definitely didn’t know about this forum for sure.

As to luck, I chose the 101 because it runs through a ton of little towns and I surmised that charging stations would be numerous and they were.

I’m still a rookie MME driver myself at 1,300 miles and this was my personal experience.

California dreaming charging experience.

Congrats on your new Mach-E. With Ford, you have access to North America’s largest public charging network — the BlueOval™ Charge Network — which includes DC fast chargers, so you can power your Mustang Mach-E in minutes. Plus, FordPass Power My Trip considers your current charge level and integrates convenient charging locations into your route."
