I am interested in rodent-proofing the interior by placing a screen over the cabin air intake port. I did this to my Toyota Prius. Quite successful.
Anyone know how to access the cabin air intake port? I'm assuming it is on the front side of the firewall below or behind the front storage well.

Knock yourself out. Yup it's below the windshield in the cowl.

My solution is lots of mouse traps.

I will post.
This should be the only access point to the cabin, so it should be 100% effective. Has been with my Prius.
Vehicle delivery is between 10-27 and 11-2, so I'll do after that time. I'm also asking the dealership mechanics to help figure out how to access the air intake port.

I did this to my Prius as well.

And on a related issue, my Sonny Boy's Ford Fusion got really chewed up by mice two years ago, while parked in his garage. Evidently mice love the new soy- based auto wie insulation. That Fusion spent some serious time at the dealer afterward, while they diagnosed all the related electrical faults the hungry mice caused.

Those Kentucky mice are a tough crowd!

Well this is something I didn't think about as we are taking delivery soon our our MME. We have garage mice. Usually every other year find nest under the hood of our ICE vehicles. Sigh. Is this interior access something unique to EVs? We haven't had an issue with mice in the interiors, so curious if I should be particularly more worried about it with our upcoming EV.

And now I have a new topic to search the forums for...

The screen isn't a bad idea. I encourage you to use rodent-repellent bags and refresh the peppermint oil a few times a year. The ones I bought tie on so I just hang them under the upper beauty cover.

I also have an ultrasonic rodent repellent unit plugged into the outlet by the car.

I use the tried and true bucket trap whenever there are signs of mice. I hate finding nests in my engine bays/where ever they decide to chew things up.

5 gal bucket, 1 soda can or bottle, 1 coat hanger. Make small holes at the top rim of the bucket across each other. Use the can/bottle as a roller by making a hole on top and bottom, feed the coat hanger through it, and the holes in the bucket. Put some peanut butter on the middle of the can's surface (a line around the can works well). Fill the bucket a few inches with water/antifreeze. I leave a small piece of 2x4 as a "ramp" to encourage the mice to climb up and across the can where they inevitably fall in.

Just did it last week. Within 3 days, 5 mice were in the bucket. Dumped it and set it up again, haven't seen a mouse since. It was probably the whole family.

I have been fighting mice for the last week.

put down glue traps in my garage to capture crickets, got plenty of them but also got a mouse. Never had a sign of them.

went to basement and found a cricket. Put down traps in unfinished part of basement and found a mice each day for 4 straight days.

up to 5 now. The battle continues. Exhausting, calling reinforcements soon to continue the battle. Wife deserted me on day 1 to leave me on front line alone.

bright side, very few new cricket captures and no mice for 3 days. Either they are all gone or learned a valuable lesson. Stay away from glue traps.

Only problem with aromatic deterrents is the aroma can enter the cabin.
