Yes, planning to go back to the first dealer and test drive the same car and compare the windshield/roof interface. Just nuts that Ford would allow such variability on a critical area of the car.

After the test drive of the bad FE Mache, I drove home in my Q7 and it was dead silent.

Instead of foam cord, I used a T-shaped rubber fitting across the line to smooth out the raised second on the passenger side. Took a spin on the highway and found a decent perceived improvement.

I was inspecting the front and rear glass seal on a model Y yesterday, and both sides were dead even level with barely any gap. If they can do it, I'm sure Ford can. Mine is in today for a whole new pano roof, (from a glass shattering). So I hope the glass people can get it straight when re-installing it.

I don't think mine has excessive wind noise, but I'm starting to collect leaves, seeds, and pollen in the top windshield gap.. so I just ordered some 1/4 foam cord with the hope that it keeps that area cleaner. I'll take some before/after decibel measurements and post results next week sometime.

To the people using foam cord: are you going down the sides of the windshield also, or just the roof line?

I did the front of the roofline only (which is where the loud wind noise presented). Made a big difference.

I might supplement it with the adhesive weatherstripping mentioned by another member above. This could provide additional help with the noise as well as protecting the leading edge of the glass roof.

Just the front as per @JSW. That does look pretty cool.

1. Not everyone has the problem - be grateful
2. If you have the problem, you know it. I couldn’t take a call without struggling to hear the other party, and they inevitably would ask about the background noise. It’s that bad.
3. The solution I posted in post #1 makes it tolerable (not a complete fix), until Ford (hopefully) resolves it.
My daughter couldn't hear it but me being taller I can hear it. Not so bad I am not happy with the car. But unhappy enough that I just ordered from amazon the t-shape adhesive to cover it.

I used a phone app to measure this, so disregard the numbers and focus on the comparisons. Sitting in my driveway with max A/C, I recorded 78db in the center of the front, just below the rearview mirror. Then on the highway at 80mph with the fan/climate control off, it was 77db. Later after using the foam cord, it was 75db. I noticed that if I held the phone near the side window, it was usually higher, around 80db.

Used the same sealing tape on mine. Don't know how they'll last in the extreme weather (heat in summer and subzero in winter typical weather in Illinois). I tried what another member did and put masking tape over seam and the wind noise decreased so I went to these. I didn'y\t have directions and didn't call up the page in Amazon with them so the rubber seal is backwards from what they recommend so pay attention to the blue diagram.

so basically the foam cord did nothing that wasn't in the margin of error and there was no difference on the highway to begin with before putting the foam cord on, if I'm translating what you are saying correctly.

Thanks for posting pics! Been away for the past month or so, and was really hoping for a TSB or something from Ford on this. Doesn't look like it. Will look into ordering this as well. When you say you applied it backwards, do you mean the 9mm side should be on the glass, and 8mm on roof? Wonder what that notch is for on the 8mm side
