This has happened to me a few times now. I’m accidentally turning on the cruise control by touching the button with the heel of my left hand. It seems that the button is very sensitive and the speed selection does not reset to zero when turned off. A quick tap of the brake shuts it off but it’s a bit annoying.
Anyone else have this happen?
This has happened several times to me, just by sliding my meaty left hand over the ultra sensitive button. I temporarily solved the problem by cutting a curved piece of plastic from a pepsi bottle and taping it over the button. It is crude and ugly but it worked.

Unfortunately there are times when I need to move my hands around the wheel like when I’m making a turn. Just touching the button seems to activate it.
We take defensive driving courses for insurance discounts. This is one of the first things they teach you is to hold 4 and 8. You have less fatigue in shoulders and arms, you are less likely to get injured in a crash from airbags, and you have the most control of the vehicle. You can complete practically all turns in this position.

JJR, How do I do this swap? Is there a Ford part?
Sorry, not a real solution, yet. Just a theory of mine.
Let Ford know if you feel a solution is warranted.
Your opinion counts.

On mine, you very much have to press the button down to enable, and it is evident when the button is pressed (the resistance and movement is significant).

Happened to me several times as well. One was in a parking lot which was really dangerous. Seems like it should be hold the button for 2 seconds or something to turn on bc/cc.
Please no! I turn on and off CC/BC multiple times on my drive. I don't want to have to hold it for two seconds each time

This.

The old 10-2 or even 9-3 are no longer considered the safest hand placement due to the airbag placement. 8 and 4 are better to avoid injury than 10-2 and will have the added benefit of not engaging cruise control or BC accidentally.
This 8-4 is now taught in BMW's Teen (and adult) Car Control Clinics.

For me, it’s neither of those positions that is the problem. It’s when I put both hands flat (palm down) through the middle of the steering wheel opening and use the top of the infrared sensor for a finger drum. My watch band or fat part of my hand activates the button. ?‍♂ Not smart - l know. And I’m learning to use 9 and 3 as my new drumming position. ?
