My mach-e has been giving me the service warning. It comes and goes. It says I have a powertrain malfunction. If the car has that warning it wont let me charge. If it goes away it is normal operations. Sometimes when I shut it down and the warning is not lit, I will start it the next morning, and the warning will appear. These times it will also ask me if the car is still plugged in, but I didn't even have in plugged in to begin with. Also while driving the car the warning will go away, then come back. When those times happen, if I come to a stop it will stop moving completely and shut down, and I will have to start the car again. I have noticed that these problems have started since the cold weather. They replaced the chare point last week, but it is still doing it. I am having it serviced again tomorrow. The dealer has been great, it's just getting frustrating. Is anyone else having these problems?

You probably need a new battery. There is a recall that helps give warning.

A recall for a new battery? No, there isn’t. The warning you’re thinking of is for the HVBJB. The issue may be that, but the codes would have to be read to know.

diagnostic codes from Dealership are needed to determine fix needed

'resets' are not a fix

Good morning! That doesn't sound like the kind of experience we want you to have. If you are able to send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info, I'd be happy to see how I can assist.

Just had all of this happen to me this evening for the first time. Charging error message in FordPass / SVS message on the dash / Powertrain warning and reduced power message in FordPass.

I was away from home when it happened and dreaded the worst, but after I turned the car back on it did not reappear at all. Made it home without any incident.

I will hook it up to Forscan tomorrow and see if I can tell anything from error codes. Ugh.

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your powertrain concerns on my end.

PM sent @Ford Motor Company.

Looks like there was a short circuit with the charger... maybe a bad connection between the car and the charger? Maybe I didn't plug in fully?

Here's what Forscan gave me if anyone can figure anything out from it:

P1A10 - A lot of things can cause this, but it means the HV system is disabled.
U3012 - This means the BECM took too long to wake up. A low 12V battery can cause this.
P0D99:11 - A short to ground was detected on the charge port thermistor circuit. Could be a wiring or low voltage issue.
P0D9E - Sets when the SOBDM senses the lock position sensor circuit is shorted to ground. Could also be a wiring or low voltage issue.
P0EE7:11- A short to ground was detected on the charge port thermistor circuit. Could be a wiring or low voltage issue.

So, first inspect your charge port and lock pin per this TSB: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...icator-in-the-ipc-and-or-multiple-dtcs.21850/

Look for signs of melting, corrosion, or other damage on the main AC pins in the J1772 port. If you find damage, you may need to have your charge port replaced.

Second, I think you should recharge your 12V battery. If you have been getting 12V drain messages, you need to address those. See my guide: Thread 'How to Recondition/Service Your 12V Battery'

Clear the codes and see if they come back. My guess is the 12V battery went dead while charging for some reason. Make sure you plug in fully and see blue lights before walking away every time.

Thanks so much for your detailed reply @Mach-Lee. I checked the port (and the charger) as suggested and there were absolutely no signs of any damage - I even shined my phone flashlight inside to make sure there was nothing further down. Looks clean... and the ports on my charger are the same way.

I haven't received a single low battery alert in a very long time (and that's when it was at the dealership and they were obviously leaving doors and hatches open for extended periods of time.) I'll check the 12V battery with a multimeter and see where it's sitting.

Hopefully this is just a one-off.

Again, thanks.
