Have you tried pulling the the turn signal lever toward you once? It may have been pushed forward and left in the high beam position. Auto will not over ride that setting. It only adjusts high beams if they are set to off.

I have mine set to not come on at all even though I set my lights to auto. I live in the city--there's absolutely no need for high beams unless you live in the middle of nowhere or are traveling.

That only controls whether the headlights come on when it gets dark. To set brights to automatic: 1. go to the vehicle drawer on the touchscreen; 2. press "settings"; 3. Press "Vehicle"; 4. Press "lighting."; 5. turn Auto Highbeam on or off. After you have done this, note the following:

Overriding Automatic High Beam Control

Push the turn signal lever away from you to switch the high beams on.

Push the lever away from you again to switch the high beams off.

Push the lever away from you for a third time to switch automatic high beam control back on (you will see the A icon to tell you they are on).

By the way, auto high beam will only work if you are traveling 19 MPH or more. CORRECTION: This has been revised since the original manual was published. They will now come on in auto mode when at 32 mph or above. Just tested and verified this.

Made all those changes to my settings.
We'll see if I set it up correctly

My auto high beams are very temperamental. On the same road at the same time of night with no other cars, it only activates about 1/3 of the time.
Its super sensitive to any light far off so its constantly turned off by porch lights, street lights, parking lot lights off to the side of the road, and even my cars own headlights reflecting on street signs.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my MME. But I've had better auto-brights experiences in rental Kias.

Auto high beams seem great for lonely rides in the country, and terrible for the city.

I turned them off the 2nd day I had the car. Regular road signs reflecting back (speed limit etc) made them go on and off.

So when a car is flashing you you actually see that the highbeam indicator blue light is lit on your cluster?

Your high beams may not be on at all. I sometimes get flashed by other cars too. Do you have a Premium or GT? The headlamps on these trims are extraordinarily bright. Part of the arms race in recent years of ever and ever brighter headlamps.

On Mach E, the threshold is 32mph according to the manual.

I had the same problem with my Mach E’s auto high beam not kicking in on a road I drive (a hilly road with 30mph speed limit) frequently. And then I learned from this forum about the 32mph threshold. My Mach E’s auto high beam works reliably since then. (Nothing changed on my Mach E, but I now understand what’s going on.)

Well then. Whenever you see the the blue light, your high beam is actually on. You can tell whether the auto high beam system has enabled/disabled your high beam by checking the blue icon.

I don’t understand why your Mach E would keep the high beam on when it should leave it off. My Mach E sometimes doesn’t turn on high beam when I want it to, but the opposite has never happened to me. Maybe your Mach E’s auto high beam system is broken.

Threshold means maximum of 32mph speed? So between 18 and 32 mph only or would work?

Original manual said they come on at 18 mph and above. I stand corrected--that was changed to 32 mph. So, at 32 or above they will come on.
