I just moved to Florida and pur a home in a very environmentally Conscious neighborhood. On impulse without any research or thinking about tomorrow, I purchased a Mach E and joined this forum. I have watched hours of YouTube videos and now I am wondering if I should have purchased a Tesla. Seem there are innumerable problems with long distance traveling, and with the car itself. I would like to ask the Mach E community if they had a do over would they still buy the Mach E. I have Less than 1500 miles on my car and am already getting alarms intermittently. For me it isn’t to late to change. I don’t need problems.

I live in Florida half the year, and my daughter lives here full time. We both have electric cars and she has one with a relatively low range, and still has not ever had problems getting anywhere or charging on the go. It's just something you get used to, and like others have said, gets better as time goes on.

I own a lot of cars and have been an enthusiast my entire life. I was interested in Teslas until I had experiences with them. Tesla owners can be a very loyal bunch, but they have had to endure quality issues that are reminiscent of the old Yugos of the 80s. Body parts literally falling off while they drive, a steering wheel coming off while on the road (!!), bricked cars, or simply dying without explanation - and the service process for Tesla is a joke.

All these electric cars are extremely new technology and will have problems other cars do not, but to add basic quality issues that literally no other modern car manufacturer could have and still stay in business is not a great trade off for a more comprehensive charging network - which, as of next year, should be the standard for all electric cars, so charging anywhere a Tesla does will be the same for all EVs, essentially.

Is the Mach E the best car ever? Not by a long shot. Is it the best EV out there? Not really. Is it better than any Tesla? Objectively, it's not even a debate, it's a fact. In the end, it will probably give you the same amount of problems as any other modern car with modern quality standards (again, Tesla does not have modern quality standards), meaning you will have issues, you will have frustrations, you will lose money when you sell the car - it's nothing special at all, and now that EV's are no longer "cool," they are losing value dramatically. It's just a car, but it's better than a Tesla.

I love my 2023 Mach E and look at complaints in two categories: One, actual issues with the car and Two, complaints. or I wish this or that was different. Statistically speaking, more people will post a complaint than sharing positive information.

That’s a decision you will have to make. I am retired and have a 2021 GTPE and love it more. I have a Maverick truck that I use for any trips that are farther than 100 miles one way. I drive it every day around Atlanta and it’s never been charged anywhere but in my garage. I have never had an alarm or problem that needs fixing other than new tires. Since you are new to the area you are probably driving more but when you settle in you will be surprised how few days you drive more than 200 miles. If I was working and driving all the time I might feel differently about it but for a retiree it’s the perfect vehicle.

You should be just fine but, I do have to ask one thing of you. Please, please, please don't come on here 6 months to a year from now complaining about the resale value when you want to sell it. We have way too many of those threads on this forum already!

I've owned both, the Mach-E is better in every way besides two things:
The S Plaid is ungodly fast and makes a mockery of the mach-e, but at a significantly higher price point.

The charging network and charging experience in remote areas is better for Tesla.

If this is your only car and you're consistently going on extremely long road trips, the Tesla may be a better option. For a daily driver, it's not even close. Off the top of my head with Tesla: no turn signal stalks is asinine. The auto-brights can't be adjusted and from the factory stay on when you're way closer to the car in front of you than they should. Constant phantom braking with autopilot and FSD because of the lack of lidar/radar. Auto wipers never turn on when they should, and sometimes decide to just turn on full blast when there's a light misting. Build quality is garbage even on the S and X - there are body panel alignment issues on every car that leaves the factory, people just decide what they consider good enough.

If you're primarily using it as a daily driver you'll be charging at home 99% of the time and the charging network will make no difference.

Thank you all for your response. I will drive the vehicle and enjoy it. I am very satisfied with the fit and finish but in reading the blogs was beginning to wonder if I had made a mistake. Personally I love the car and as long as I drive it locally I do not think I will have any problems. Next year the Tesla charging will make me change my mind of longer trips. I appreciate all the responses. By the way when I bought the MachE, I had gone to the store to buy the Maverick.

I went to the store to buy a Maverick and came home with a MachE

YES, you should. You should have purchased a used 21-22 instead of new and saves a $#!+ ton Every other car on the road is a tesla, you're not missing out on anything, unless road-tripping is important, if it is, you should have gotten a hybird.

I bought my 2023 MME in August and have ~1500 miles on it. I have not had a single alarm or issue at all. My wife and I love the car. I believe most, if not all, EV's (and many ICE vehicles as well), have or will have issues of one kind or another. I traded in my late model Ford Explorer (obviously a vehicle with a long history) on my MME. I received many recall notices for that Explorer so I am patient/understanding of a 'new" design EV having recalls and issues.

To paraphrase a quote from the first Men in Black movie - “You can have my MME (gun) when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.” ― Edgar, Men in Black

I’ve owned two MMEs. Only regret was buying at inflated prices. Love the car.

I took delivery of my 23 MME early July this year.
It has close to 10.000 km in the meantime, due to long work trips multiple times per week.
Drives like a charm! No issues, not with the onboard software, not with the app, not with the handling, not with the pre-heating. All works flawlessly.
And makes me smile every day that I drive it.
You won't regret it!

Yep. Although I think I’d wait for the chance to order a Rally.
I’ve been thinking the same thing (don’t tell my wife! ?), though only if I can get it without the stripes and the rear spoiler.

I've put over 3,000 miles on my Mach-E GT and I have ZERO regrets! Ford has been consistent with addressing issues that have been reported by the owners. If you're concerned about the charging network, it is continuing to grow. Personally, I bought the Ford Connect Charging Station for my home. It was an excellent investment since electricity at home is so much cheaper than that from the network! The only issue I've had is the ONE time I forgot to plug in to the charger at night.
