Thank you for the advice . I've never used a mechanical buffer and would be afraid I'd damage the paint finish on the car. Could I hand buff instead?
You could, but I hope your shoulders are in better shape than mine. The dual action random orbit buffer/polishers are pretty fool proof as long as you don’t leave it in the exact same spot for a long time. I got the one at Harbor Freight which is actually very comparable to the ones Griot’s and Adam’s sell (for a third of the price). I only used fine and ultra fine foam pads with gentle compounds to ensure I didn’t overdo anything and mess up the finish.

I will have to give this serious thought. I had a clear "bra" installed using Xpel and wouldn't want any chemical products acting on the film and causing it to dislodge ($995 down the drain). You're right, Chemical Guys sells a product which removes old waxes and coatings that were applied but before using it I would want assurance that it won't damage the Xpel (same goes for an orbital polisher). I wish I had done things correctly the first time; saving a little time then has caused more headaches now.

In today’s episode of Murse-In-Airy’s DIY Detail and Vinyl Shop;
I finally received the the stripes for the Wife’s car yesterday. So I started by detailing her car. Washed, Clayed, Polished, Isopropyl wipe, and two coats of Ceramic from Chemical Guys. Before and After Below:

Since I didn’t put the same effort into detailing hers (she doesn’t care as much and won’t take care of it anyway) I finished early and had time.
Along with her stripes, yesterday’s shipment included some more stripes for mine.

WHAT?
MORE STRIPES you say?!?!?

Ladies and Gentlmen, let me introduce you to SIDE STRIPES:

Wow - just WOW! Such a sharp look and a great idea.

Man, you polished your wife's car so hard, it changed the front pony color! ;)

Had to remove the badging as going below the badging out the stripe right through the faux lower door seam. And going above the badging was just too high for side stripes. So after the stripes were laid I put the badging back on.
Again, pretty proud of how this came out considering last month I had never detailed a car nor touched a piece of vinyl. The side
Stripe kit was for a 2015 mustang coupe so I had to make a splice between two pieces in the middle of the back door. Again CKWraps YouTube channel showed me what to do and the seam is invisible unless you know where to look.
I do believe my car is done now. On to hers.

Be careful if you order that kit. It isn’t specific for the MME and requires some splicing to get the right size pieces. Hiding a splice takes a little effort. It fortunately for me, no actual talent.

So...you put the ceramic on before the stripes or after?

I wondered how rocker panel stripes would look on a Mach-E. I think I would take the emblems off and put Mach-E in place of the Mustang for the stripe. Though I am not sure what stripe color would look good on Infinite Blue...Silver? Maybe the green Ford uses for the logos? Have to think about it.

Yes. Ceramic before stripes for me. That’s what the vinyl supplier recommended. May see about another coat over the top now.

I saw your and wife's cars on Reddit. Beautiful work. The cars may be the best looking MachEs I've seen.

Thank You. I’ve put a lot of time into each of them. We’re both happy with the result.

Beautiful!! What is the height of the stripe, in inches? I may try this on my Rapid Red model.

Side stripes are 3” tall including the small pinstripes above and below. The main stripe is 2”.
For the center stripe (aka hood stripe), the main stripe is 13” and the total including the pinstriping on the sides is 15”.

Thanks. Just got a quote to have the side stripes added to my Rapid Red.
