It’s funny because I sometimes refer to my Blazer as a station wagon - a 4x4 3-door station wagon. Sometimes I call it a convertible. ?

Since I don’t have one yet, I have no idea what CA DMV calls the MME. It’s listed in 2 places on Ford’s web site, under the Mustang link and under the SUV link. I guess I would go with what the manufacturer calls it.
Pretty much why I would opt to call it an SUV. Besides if the manufacturer doesn’t categorize it correctly, what does that say about their smarts (and by extension the smarts of the buyers)?
They cal it an SUV because people want to buy an SUV, and we can charitably say the "buyers are susceptible to the power of suggestion". There's also the fact that "SUV"/"Crossover"/"station wagon" is a category and not a brand; there are no "SUV" badges on the thing.

So I'm not sure that the criterion of what Ford calls it holds water.

When I got mine insured they called it a station wagon so.. theres that..
NJ calls it a station wagon on my registration, too.

They're all kind of marketing terms. Personally, I go by the classical definition: if it's body on frame, it's an SUV. Older Explorer: SUV; current Explorer: crossover, although having just gotten rid of my 2020, it's not even a crossover; it's just a station wagon car.

My MME is a small car. You can call it a crossover, but it looks like a car and drives like a car and balances evenly with a witch on a scale.

The only thing I miss from my Tesla Model 3 was that it was a compact car.

I've always been a compact car person throughout my life, I just like the feel a lot more and way easier to park if I go to San francisco.

BUT, I looked up the dimensions comparing the mach e to the model 3, and the Mach-e is only ONE INCH longer and ONE inch wider than a model 3. It's barely any difference at all but it just feels so different. I wonder why that is
Small SUV. AWD. Storage comparable to rav4.

Well Ford calls it a SUV on their website. I think it's more like a slightly lifted station wagon.
If we call it a station wagon often enough, maybe they will add the utility back into the SUV by adding a roof rack option and tow package :)

It doesn’t matter how you call it. It is just a very heavy vehicle with descent AWD but low clearance.
