It's sure not "the same distance". The MME is still on the driver display, inside the steering wheel view. On a Tesla it's well off to the side of the steering wheel.You don't have to turn your head to see the speed in a Tesla Model 3/Model Y.
You simply move your eyes slightly to the right, the same distance as you would if you were looking at the Mach-E speed display. It's also no different than moving your eyes to see your navigation. At least in the Tesla, the speed is always in the same spot every time, no matter what you're doing or mode you're in. Also, the Model X & S have "in front of you" speed display.
Nav basic directions also get duplicated on the MME driver display, while the detailed map displays on the center display.
