It worked exactly as I would expect it to work… I’m not sure if it’s possible in this specific application but usually you want to pull off the tape backing a little at a time. Most of the time you can pull it off while holding the spoiler in the exact location you want it.

Yes, this was the suggested installation instructions that worked for me.
Instructions said to cut the backing off in the middle and pull 90 degrees away to start.
I pulled the tape backing off one side as I pressed down from one side to the other.
Worked out good but the Ford part still did not sit 100% level with the car body.

I think it looks fine. If it was crooked then yeah, you'd want to remove it. But honestly it looks good as it is.

Curious: are you at all worried about the ends of the spoiler catching on stuff? For instance I don't think I'd use any automatic car wash with that installed...

Oh, and Ford, seriously? ?

i am definitely concerned about automatic car wash now.

Did you use the 3M sealant on all the areas that were indicated in the instructions ?

I had a small gap on one side after applying both the tape and 3M sealant so I filled it with extra 3M sealant. Scraped off the extra and looks great.
The 3M sealent only goes in that crevice / ridge underneath, correct?

I think this is where i screwed up a bit. I might have done the tape removal thing wrong.

Yes, the 3M sealant goes into the crevice / channel on the seating part.

But I used the extra sealant to fill in the gap that was created.

Notice the right side has an uneven look to it.

I did it a little differently. I used masking tap to mark where the edge of the double sided tape should go on each side. (Although one side would have been enough. Used my son to line up one side and I lined up the other and presto.

Just installed the AOSK roof and trunk spoilers (V2) today. I'm really happy with the way they look. I watched plenty of YouTube installation videos first and followed them closely. Be judicious with the adhesion promoter that comes with the spoilers. Make sure that you only apply it exactly to areas that will be covered by the spoilers.

Go to harbor freight or something and buy a cheap heat gun. Heat up the tape and rip it off and put some nice tape on it. I dry fit and mark the edges with painters tape when I put it on. I’ve had to replace the tape once since buying that spoiler.

Part not actually made by Ford, but sold by them. It's made by AirDesign.

it looks great! and you cant even notice...

not to hijack, but I like the look of your Ford over-the-edge/fender design; but not the price; comparable aftermarket have been hard for me to find. I actually only found this one, but the shipping charges to Canada are insane and more than the cost of the spoiler. Has anyone seen these for fair shipping to Canada? The AOSK is easy to get on Amazon, but prefer the look of over the fender.

I purchased the rear lip spoiler from Ford's site and installed it myself. Instructions are simple, however the final step caught me off guard and left it slightly less than perfect. The final step is placing the spoiler onto the trunk lid with the 2 sided tape. What they don't tell you is that the instant the tape touches your car, it's bonded. You can't slide it around or make minor adjustments. Taking it off would rip up the tape.
The problem is, the spoiler now has a small gap on the bottom because was not able to full seat it again the deck lid (it wouldn't slide).

I'm leaving it as-is because you can't really notice it and because trying to remove it would destroy the chance of a future bond, but it bothers me that it's not perfect.

Thoughts?

You're making the right call on leaving well enough alone. 99 out of a hundred people aren't going to notice the gap, and those who like spoilers and aero aids will like the looks. It's nice.

I am toying with the idea of getting one. Ford is having an accessory sale at the moment, 15% off I think, still not cheap by any means but less painful. Your car looks to be the same color as mine and the gloss black looks good to my eye.

What is your impression of the quality and sturdiness of the Ford accessory/Air Design spoiler?

If there are any engineers specialized in aerodynamics reading the various spoiler and spliter threads, I'd be curious as to your general impressions of the usefulness of these add on items at interstate highway speeds. I know it's hard if not impossible to be specific without access to the various measurements, if any, taken during development of these products. The styling touches are nice, but I wonder if there is more than aesthetic benefit on these cars?

Eric, it looks great, well done!

Ford Mustang Mach-E Spoiler Installation Issue ... now what do i do? IMG_0058

I installed the air design deck spoiler. I mocked it up for 30 minutes before I installed it and followed the instructions exactly. I got lucky and its straight. But i can see how this might go wrong. When glueing it down I suggest putting the leading edge of the spoiler in position first, double check your alignment then let the trailing edge drop down on to the deck. And then put sandbags on top to hold it down. finally I let it cure at60 degrees for 24 hours. Holding it down with Tape is ridiculous, that’s never going to do anything.

First impressions are that it actually helps on a GTPE with a giant front splitter. It steers a little straighter, less darty and twitchy.
