I've read they purposely design these "status symbol" cars to be ugly in order to stand out. I think the Prius is a famous example.
Bros gotta peacock. 😂

So a 2021-2024 4S can be tuned to 750 hp and the 2025 models can be tuned to 930hp. 😳

Pretty insane since the tune is only $2500. Also insane because Porsche charges about $100,000 more for a Turbo S than a 4.
Interesting, but wouldn't this tune void the warranty?

Anyone cross shopped or moved to or from this car and a Mach E?

Was looking at some used cars and this one caught my eye as a potential Mach E replacement.

New prices on these are LOL hilarious. But used you can get a 2022 for about 50% off MSRP.

Notice the small charge port doors on the fender hips, just up and slightly behind the tires, on EACH SIDE of the car. A BEV Porsche which looked very much like this one, pulled into a set of chargers we were at but, as the owner explained, had to wait to charge because the DCFC port is on the side where a charger was not available. Why, I asked myself, would Porsche engineers place the AC L1-L2 charge port on one side while placing L3 DCFC at the other side? Could be a meaningful engineering reason but just seemed odd given that all other EVs I know about integrate the two.

Yes. But it’s also undetectable if you want it to be. It’s a separate controller that controls how much power to send to the motors, you swap that controller in and out if you want to go to stock.

I’ve modified many cars that I’ve owned. I only do it when I’m confident I won’t need the powertrain warranty. The good thing about this specific tune is it shouldn’t impact reliability at all as you are just getting rid of the restrictions all “non-turbo S” models have.

Very different than slapping a supercharger on a car (which I have done as well).

If I’m buying a Porsche it will be a sedan or smaller

This looks like a Porsche station wagon
Yes.

May be a perfect replacement for my Mustang station wagon.

Most Taycans are sedans if that’s what you prefer.

The new BMW iX3 is going to have that same configuration with the DCFC on the back right(!) and another level 2 on the back left. If I was designing it for the US market, I’d reverse that for obvious reasons.

Do you know, is that configuration due to any engineering advantage?

None that I know of. I watched some of the rollout videos and didn’t see any explanation of why they went with that layout.

The Chinese Mach-E has two charge ports too, just that they're on the same side. One in the same place ours is, one in the rear. One of them is for DCFC and the other for AC charging. I don't remember which, though. 🤷‍♂️🐩
