Starting a new thread for this complaint (after the discussion about what issues do we want Ford to fix with an updated build).

The rotary shifter is my number 1 issue.

It would be if it was like the EV6 shifter. Twist right to drive (and return to center when you let go); twist left to go into reverse. And the button in the middle should be for PARK. I've never used Low. I shift to park every time I drive. Why would @Ford Motor Company give Low the center button instead of Park??????

Even better would be something akin to the ID4 or BMW shifter. You push it forward to go into drive. You pull it back to go into reverse. And a button at the end is for park. That's really what I want.

EV6 shifter (also note the physical camera button!!):

A good percentage of forum members use the L setting daily.
Maybe make it programmable then?

Even better, they could add a few user programmable buttons below the shifter. Maybe a generic A, B, and C. Personally, I'd like one for the camera. Another one for play/pause. And I'd set the third to toggle the driver's seat heater.

What would you use three unassigned buttons for?

If you’ve not had any ford vehicles 2020 or newer, the dial is a new concept. Having had two vehicles with the dial, it’s extremely intuitive compared to the alternative. I mean, have you tried driving a Tesla or Mercedes with the stalk shifter? Or the “bounce back” console shifters that BMW or some FCA products used? Considering that traditional forward backward shifters had dash illuminated lights that read Left to Right for PRNDL for decades, using the dial Left to Right for the same selections is actually incredibly simple to use.

I'm looking forward to the rotary switch shifter. The "joy stick" thing in our 2017 Chevy Bolt was one of the features I hated most about the Bolt. The fact that the radio defaulted to "on" was another. One of the things I liked most about the Bolt was the regenerative braking. Got pretty good at the one pedal driving. Hope the MME is as good.

It's just something you have to get used to. At first I hated it and I still think I prefer Audi's way of shifting, but it grew on me.

If I had a request it would be to move the L right of D and make the button a 1PD toggle. My last EV had a toggle on the shifter and I enjoyed going between the two.

I guess my observation is that we all have different opinions based on historical usage. Ultimately we will do what Ford makes us do. Habits will change.

I think it's a pretty low percentage of them and most of them have some erroneous ideas about being in L making the car more efficient with "extra" regen.

Rotary shifter was introduced in 2017 Fusions I believe. We had one on our 2018 Fusion Energi.

I never use Park, I just turn the car off. Why would you use Park?

That's fantastic! If the design of the shifter is your number one issue, it must mean that your car is pretty great.
Remembering someone on here or on Reddit complaining that they had to hit a button to start and turn off the car

I still can’t stop from rotating the dial further to the right when trying to shift from Drive to Neutral. I can’t explain why I feel reverse MUST be further over toward the passenger seat.

Yeah, it somehow offends some people that Ford would have the audacity to put a power button in an electric car. Personally, I prefer the car to only turn on when I tell it to.

I like MME shifter better than all those alternatives. The only concern I have is that my dog may jump on it and turn the dial. It haven't happened, but he did already jump on the emergency button turning on the flashes.
My dog did that to me. He spun it around to Park (Bark?) while I was in motion. Luckily just a warning pops and it didn't actually do anything.
