I did a trip across Washington and Montana using only Tesla SC. The only place I had an issue was Liberty Lake WA where the first post I tried gave a charging equipment error on the car. I moved down one and it worked fine.

In your case I’m going to go with the cord is not seating properly. Sometimes it seems seated and the lock button seems locked but if you put the adapter against the tire and lean in it just a little it snaps into place. The lock button should be moving , in its entire range, freely with the adapter seated.

I’m on a trip from Philadelphia or Orlando, and I’ve found the Tesla network to be rock-solid, and the cheapest. I do have a Ford-supplied adaptor. Perhaps there are issues with 3rd party adapters?

ya it does seem that way, but I made sure the Tesla cord was all the way in and the lock it set, not sure how it could be in any more. and I did use the adapter successfully on the way down to SoCal. I even tried tht dam charge post at one station and still no dice.
We'll see how the Ford adapter works, because I agree with you it does seem like I'm not getting the lock switch all the way locked in ?‍♂
I found that i had to not only get the click, but also, after the click, jam the slide forward. The fact that you got a good change elsewhere implies you have mastered the dance, but i wonder if you got over confident and didn't do the final slide push after clicking it in?

I think he is referring to V3 and V4 Superchargers, which are compatible with our cars. V1 and V2 are not compatible.

EVGo has a Plug and Charge option. You set it up through their app and then charge once at one of their chargers. After that, it works. It doesn’t go through Ford so you can pick one of their pricing plans if it works for you. I have it activated and use it occasionally but I don’t have a discounted plan with them. It works pretty well.

Tested the Ford adapter last night with plug and charge. Tried it a couple times at 2 different stalls. Neither worked. I tried it again today. It didn't work with plug and charge, unplugged and tried the Tesla app, still didn't work. Unplugged and plug it in again. While trying to select the stall in the Tesla app, it started charging. So I guess plug and charge finally worked after about 5 minutes.

Correct, since (at this time) there is no deployment of anything like Level 4. ??

I thought that might be it, but there are no V4 chargers deployed in North America yet, are there?

I believe the first North American V4 installation went live in Q3 2023 in Wilsonville, OR. There is also a V4 installation in Nevada. Not sure where else. ??

It is my understanding that there are no real V4 Tesla chargers. There are some V4 dispensers, but they all still use the V3 charging cabinets. Still though, V4 dispensers are nice because they have longer cables which the Mach-E needs. I hope they start swapping out V3 dispensers with V4 dispensers.

The two I mentioned are 350KW installations. The cabinets are different because they reportedly have credit card readers. Other than having the Tesla physical interface, the seem identical to the deployments in Europe. I have only seen pictures and read articles about them, so this may or may not be 100% accurate. ?‍♂?

On our trip from NorCal to SoCal I was excited I could finally use Tesla charging because there are always waits at the EA stops in I-5.
On the way to SoCal first charging stop I had to use the Tesla app to start charging. Second stop worked fine, plug and charge just worked. Third stop I had to try a couple chargers, but plug and charge did work once I got to a charger that worked.

Now for the way back. First stop, could not get Tesla to work, tried multiple chargers, all got red ring of death.
Second stop I just went EA because the Tesla chargers are in a place where you have to make the bumper hit a high curb to make the cable reach. Third stop, again tried multiple chargers, none talked to my car, ended up having to wait in line at EA.

Thankfully I had it planned out that each stop also had EA next to Tesla.

When I say Tesla could not even talk to my car, it would not even pass the first handshake and lock the charger. It just could not talk to the car.

I have the A2Z adapter, maybe it is that. I will try Tesla again with the official Ford adapter. But as of right now, I'm would not trust Tesla, specially if that was the only charger at a stop and I wouldn't have enough charge to get to an EA or something. Yes I made sure the lock switch was all the way locked.

Anyway, I'm just sitting at an EA and annoyed ??
I've used the A2Z adapter a total of 7 times now and have always been able to get a successful charging session completed. There are times where the lock was not properly engaged or I had to readjust my vehicle to have enough slack in the line. But once I had everything properly aligned or the adapter properly locked everything has worked fine.
