No. The same software they are using in the "robotaxi" network is classified as SAE level 4. Technically FSD has always been SAE level 4. Tesla is abusing the famous "tesla loophole" which they invented. They claim the system is level 2 so they can test anywhere.

yes it has never moved to level 3. Because it was always above level 3. How do you move downward

your ignorance is believing tesla sold $30 billion worth of FSD licenses. Tesla's total sales of FSD is less than $2 billion and at no point did the software make any promises of unsupervised driving. They in public made misleading claims but the software order page was clear.

Tesla makes profit at $99 a month because the software is really good and people want to use it now. FSD v14 will be a giant leap

Someone in austin, tx could use FSD v14 when it releases and go an entire year without touching the steering wheel and pedals. While that is not significant, that year will turn into indefinite as the software improves.

For people who want to see what FSD v14 driving is like. Insane

in many ways this is better than human level performance. Ridiculous speed at shifting, ridiculous understanding of how to maneuver the car, and ridiculously fast reaction time

1. HW4 has been in place since 2023. But yes, it's possible HW5 is needed for autonomy. This is simply a computer upgrade for many people

Tesla actually did not make claims about "unsupervised" for many years now. The cars you are buying do not promis unsupervised

2. FSD is already legal. There are 20 states that allow unsupervised driving TODAY. Tesla has to self certify the car can perform minimum risk manuevers. You can drive from Montana all the way to key west, Florida. There are I believe 20 states with no restrictions on self driving, 9ish states with testing requirements (pilot programs) and then the rest of states have no laws yet.

As long as FSD passes human performance, why would they not insure it? It's not a problem. The laws are already in place.

I think in the long term there will be laws about the car just driving around on roads with no one in it.

The only thing preventing unsupervised is tesla having the internal data to know if FSD is safe enough. The second thing is it will be a while before a consumer can go to the airport and then their car drive back home.

They didn't sell very many because it's too expensive. And not many people believed tesla. And on top of that, now that it is $99 a month there is zero reason to buy. FSD (unsupervised) will cost monthly

my belief is this. Tesla puts out a new technology upgrade to FSD (major overhaul) at least once a year. That means FSD v14 if it can go 20K miles with no intervention, a user may never have to touch the steering wheel or pedals (provided no mapping issues) for a whole year. And by the time that happens, FSD will have a major technology upgrade with maybe a 5-10x improvment.

Even if FSD requires a new car (which I don't mind) I will just buy an unsupervised car and my other car will have nearly the same value as the driving will be ridiculously safe.

You misunderstand. You’re fine, he’s trolling you. He’s arguing with you just to argue. You’re not going to convince him because it’s religion to him.

There is also a 75% chance they are an ai chat bot.

(and this comment is as factual as their posts, with the same sources backing it up)

I don't think you realize that most manufacturers do not include the same ADAS hardware or any hardware on all trims. GM until this 2026 did not include supercruise on any models unless you paid around $10K for trim upgrades. Basically no lane centering of any kind.

Hyundai/Kia in base trims include HDA1 not HDA2.

What toyota has had for many years is barely lane centering.

Having lane centering as pretty much standard since 2015 (and good lane centering at that) is a tesla exclusive feature.

Autopilot from 2015 in a tesla model S outperforms bluecruise today.
All this PR is not worth a can of beans. Tesla's own legal team states every time in the court room their system is only level #2 and requires full supervision. No and, but or anything else exists.
