When I bought the MachE we were living very rural. 1h15m to a decent grocery store. 1 EV and 1 ICE truck for towing and farm purposes.

Moved into a city last January.......sold the truck and purchased a used Nissan Ariya EV. So now 2 Evs.

Garage is small city alley set up. 16' deep. We managed for probably 9 most using a single Level 1 charger. Swapping between cars as needed. Because we lived in a city our mileage was drastically reduced. It worked very well for us.

Recently had our electrical service upgraded from 100amp to 200amp and added a sub panel to the garage so we could use our Level 2 40amp charger. It is counted in the center back wall of the garage. Wife backs her car in, I pull in. Charger reaches each car just fine and we can charge each easily overnight now, rather than waiting a couple of days.

You can adapt to whatever your situation is. We will not be going back to ICE

I have a Mach E and a Model Y..I have one charger with a 25ft cable. Each car requested less than an hour and a half to charge from daily driving. if we need more, I also have a level 1 setup for the Y so I can charge both at the same time, albeit very slowly, if needed

We are 100%. EV. 2017 Bolt with 297k miles, 2021 Mach E with 180k miles and 2026 Lucid Gravity. As for repairs, Bolt had the inverter replaced for $3400 at 240k miles. Both Bolt and Mach E had the steering tie rod and shock replace recently. Lots of tires and cabin air filter of course.

As for L2 charging, we have the Enphase dual chargers. We lived in Los Angeles area so cold weather is not an issue.

Before the Lucid, if we want to go long distance out of town, we will rent a car for the weekend. No stress about charging. Now the the Lucid, that is fairly stress free.

2 EVs here... 24 Mach E and a 24 Lightning. One charger L2. I drive the lightning daily for a living about 150 miles average, wife drives 70 miles daily in the Mach E. Never had an issue keeping charge, we just have to plan accordingly. We did upgrade to a 40 Amp L2 charger last month, but we were using the Ford mobile charger fine for both vehicles fine before that. It's has happened a total of 4 times where we had to go to a Tesla Supercharger to fill one vehicle up due to time restraints or unexpectedly scheduled a much longer trip, but that is rare, and pretty much a desperate act in times of need, lol.
Even with both EVs at home and the rarel trip to fast charge, the financial math is way better than the times I owned one EV and a ICE.

Already a happy owner of a '21 Job 1 and will drive it until the wheels fall off.

The other car in the household is ICE, getting close to 100k in mileage, and will be a PITA to repair as it ages.

It's been nice to have the ICE as an option for the 1-2 odd destinations where the charging infrastructure is questionable. However, with gas prices going up, and 99% of the driving performed with the ICE vehicle not requiring much more than at-home charging, we're thinking about replacing the ICE vehicle with an EV.

Question: For those who have > 1 EV in your household, do you have more than one L2 charger?

On paper, I think we can get by with just one charger, though winter would be potentially challenging (despite what my profile says, I'm in a colder part of the country during winter.)

I have plenty of headroom (physical as well as amperage) for an additional electrical run but was not sure it was really needed since I only really need to charge 1-3x/week.

Thank you!
We have both the Mach-E and a RAV4 Prime (PHEV), both bought 3 - 31/2 years ago. At the time we also were concerned about the infrastructure issues. We even took the RAV4 on a 5,500 mile cross-country trip.
For us, this has been the perfect "transition" solution to the build-out of more charging stations. We only have a single L2 charger, as the RAV4 uses the supplied L1 cord and regular household current.

Given the rates of L2 charging and our driving patterns (less than 29,000 combined miles in three+ years), a single L2 charger would work for us, since the cords would reach both, even though the charger is mounted on one side of the garage.

We will keep both vehicles for a while - they replaced 17 & 14 year old vehicles!

You might consider a plug in hybrid for your second car so you have mostly electric but gas power when it is needed. I have a 2024 MME charging on a level 2 charger, and my wife has a 2025 Lincoln Corsair PHEV charging overnight with standard 120 volt cable that comes with the car. She drives mostly in town and gets over 100 mpg.

PHEV is a potential option, as long as the battery is actually big enough for it to make sense. Good to hear that you're getting a good amount of efficiency.

We have two EV's, Mach E and Optiq, also have a dual-port Grizzl E charger. The two ports split the current so you charge at half speed with both plugged in. Really haven't used both ports together all that often. It's useful if you want both cars pre-conditioning though

We have a MME and a PHEV Ford Escape. Have a L2 charger coming off of our solar system. For our needs, the single charger is more than adequate to keep both charged but as others mentioned it totally depends on how much of your EV's batteries are needing recharge on a regular basis.

We have 2 EVs and 1 L2 charger. My wife puts her EV6 on the charger when she gets home from work, and then I hook my MachE up and let it charge overnight.

We are a total EV family with 2 evs. One for the wife (Kia Ev6)and a 2021 MachE Job 1 for me. We have one L2 charger and it does just fine. In fact I have it set at a charging speed of 4Kw. That is approximately 120 miles added over a 10 hour period. When I first purchased my MachE I purchased a 48 amp L2 charger and a 60 amp wiring and breaker. Now I have learned that was overkill and I really can get by with a much slower charger even with 2 EVs in the family.

We use an Emporia level 2 shared between our 2 EVs. Depending on the time of day (we try to charge only using solar), I'll adjust the charge down from 48amps if it's cloudy so as not to drain house batteries. Solar app lets us see exactly what the solar generation is at a given moment and also what the house draw is (includes the EV charger as well as any house appliances.) Each car's app tells me how long it needs to get to 80% at whatever rate I've set the Emporia. I'll change the charge rate as necessary to keep from pulling from house batteries, and when one car is filled up, unplug and move to the other. If it's clear (cloudy day and/or late in the day) that we won't get both up to 80%, I'll apportion judiciously.

what also attracted us to the Emporia is the ability to add a second charger later to the same (100 amp) service because the chargers could then be plugged in simultaneously and automatically adjust charge rate so as not to overload the 100 amp service. So far, it's not been enough of a nuisance for me to watch and manually shift charger plug, so probably not worth the cost of second charge and electrician and permit.

Emporia also offers a charge on solar feature. This requires installing a sensor just downstream of the main meter between it and the 200 amp service at the house (the 100 amp service is a sub panel on the remote, detached garage.) This would have fully automated the system for solar and (with a second charger) handled both cars simultaneously. But after installing sensor, found out from the great tech support people at Emporia that it unfortunately does not detect our house batteries, so can't work automatically as it wouldn't charge the cars unless the batteries were 100% full--it would see the charge going to the batteries as a house demand that wouldn't leave enough to simultaneously charge the cars. Since I prefer to charge the cars with morning solar first, with a little current going to house batteries and then full current after cars are charged, this doesn't work for us. Emporia says they are working on a way to isolate and sense battery charge.

Long story, but you'll be fine with one level 2 charger and if you have TOU rates, be able to set at lowest charge cost time.

Have fun!

Got rid of our last Diesel 6 month ago. We share a 11 kW Charger. No issues so far. 2nd car just needs a charge once a week. My MAch-E is charge twice per week, but only 20 to 25 kWh per Charge. So there would be enough time per day if we would need to charge both cars.
