Can someone post pic of what worn tires look like, please. Mine are here…have about 20k miles on them. Driving normal. Q: Are these worn?

need more / different / better photos to determine. What is the tread depth? what do the inside and outside shoulder of the tire look like? A picture of the tire "standing up" would be more helpful...

still can't see the shoulders well, but it looks like there is some useful tread left.

Here is an example pic of tires w/approx 7/32 tread and good wear pattern:

Is there a difference in the PSI recommendation by Ford in the USA vs the U.K? For normal load my manual (and sticker on the door jamb) says I should be running fronts at 35 PSI and rears at 41 PSI. My 21 Premium AWD Extended Range runs on stock Bridgedale Turanza T005 225/55 R19 summer tyres and I reckon I’ll get nearly 50K miles out of them (37K miles of summer driving so far). These are the tyres the car came with. In winter I now swap to Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 tyres. I’m 6K miles in on them so too early to tell how long they’ll last.

I'm also UK based and have only had my 2023 RWD since April this year, so 7 months. I've only done 4,876 miles so far. It's just been in for a Vehicle Health check as part of some Recall Software Updates and I was told that my rear tires are already 40% worn and my fronts are 30% worn!

I'm still on the stock tires that came with the car and at the pressures they set when they sold it to me, which is also differential pressures with 35psi at the front and 40psi on the rears.

I primarily drive locally around town, but have done a few longer weekend (motorway) trips away in it.

I am rather concerned that they are already so worn though after such a short time and use. However I am wondering, whether living on a new build estate where the roads still aren't built, are wearing them down far faster than I expect.

That said, my old Seat Leon used to have Budget tires on them and they used to last me for years/tens of thousands of miles before they wore, even on this same unpaved estate! These too were also differential pressures between front/back as specified by the owners manual.

I would say mine look almost as good as yours. Perhaps some users have defective tires from factory. Driving habits have nothing to do with tire wear.

Wife took the California Route 1 Mach E in to the tire place this morning for winter tires and they told us that the tire shoulder is so worn as to be legally "bare". We bought our Mach E in December 2022, so this is less than 2 years. We've rotated once every 10k miles (so twice since purchasing).

Anyone else experiencing quick tire wear on the run flats that come standard when you purchase a Mach E?
Too much spirited driving will cause the tires work harder that may be the problem

What make of tyres came with your MY23? I wonder if Ford has started cutting costs like some manufacturers where the OEM tyres are cheaper and start with less tread depth in the first place? Hope not!

The little bumps in the middle of your tread are the “wear markers.”

Your tires are worn when those are even with the rest of your tread.

This is what my worn GTPE summer tires looked like at 10k miles.

I'm coming up on 3 years and 40k miles and don't see a need to replace my original tires until end of next summer before it starts raining Oct 2025 around 50k miles.
I don't see what the issue is here.

Well that is very interesting! I have Continental Premium Contact 6 Tyres as standard. 225/55 R19 103V XL.

I've just been doing some extra research into these tyres and a few people have said they have found them to wear out faster than others they've had. I've also found that these tyres come with a tread depth of 7.4mm. Looking at the recent report from Ford's Health Check, it seems I have 5.5mm tread remaining on the rear and 6mm remaining on the front.
At that rate I figure the fronts are wearing at around 3428mi/mm and 2526mi/mm for the rears. So, to wear down to the legal UK minimum of 1.6mm, the fronts would expect to last for 19882mi and the rears to last 14650mi.

I guess that's not so bad after all, just seemed like such a high wear % on the report for such little miles, but when I work it out, it doesn't look too bad. Still seems the rears would wear out much faster than the fronts, but I guess that's the RWD, and I'm still sure my old cars Budget Tyres used to last me around 25000 miles or so.

Anyone got any good recommendations of the next tyres to put on the Mach E Premium RWD when I do come to change them?

I would say that 32K miles is exemplary (strike that, nearly impossible is more like it) for a GT-PE with Summer UHP tires. I would say it’s about average for a GT that came with all-season tires. Especially for a car that has seen some stoplight and cloverleaf fun. ??
Couldn't agree more, I got 17.5k on my 21 GTPE worthless Pirelli's mostly because they weren't designed for cold. Now approaching 40k on my continentals and should go well beyond.

I'm thinking about the Defender as well. It looks like the Defender 2 is better as far as rolling resistance than the original Defender, but it's hard to find any solid data.

I'm curious...how does it drive compared to the OE tire? (noise/crispness of steering/ride/etc)

Thanks!
I didn't noticed any differences.

Don’t look too worn to me but BEWARE buying part worn tyres.

I have worked on programs with the authorities checking out part worn tyres sold and haven’t found a legal one yet with some right death-traps.

They are changed for a reason!
