Has anyone tried lowering the rubber stoppers a little bit? Did this help?

Do you just remove those two small plastic covers that are near the bumpers to access their height adjustments?

Yep. The one I closed on the Machetour closed perfectly from about a 12"drop. Mine won't. I have to keep applying force to slam it down.

Honestly, I don't care if it's airtight. I'm tempted to drill an airhole. I won't actually do that, of course, but I might try seeing if I can stick something to indent the soft seal to create a little air gap.

Maybe it loosens itself up on its own after use. Could be why the tour car closed easier.
seriously, it can't be an "airtight" issue. the latch is not allowing it to close; there's more than an inch all the way around at that point. I'm certain "airtight" has nothing to do with this problem.

The latch mechanism stops it before the bumpers are involved at all.

I was just playing with those. Lowering all the way make it easier to close, but still didn't work falling under it's own weight. I left them raised them a little from the lowest position

It sure would be cool if you get it to the first latch and then a mechanized pulley of some sort took over from there and closed it to the proper tightness.
Its possible it will work this way when they enable the electronic release. When you pull the hood pull in the car, you can hear you're moving an electric motor or actuator in there.

The way I found it work... bring the hood all the way down and it will rest.. push in the center down and you will hear it lock. Worked for me a few time I did it.. and it does not need too much force.
yeah, I'm not keen on 'slamming' anything....
but, I've found the 'firm push' is a bit more than expected, and may be difficult for a small light person. My test case would be a 15 year old girl 5 feet tall and weighing a solid 100#.... can she get the hood to latch?

so, the followup question is.... what can we adjust, as Owners, to require less force to engage the 2nd level latch?

I tried removing the cover/seal attached to the hood.... which made no difference except remove a couple pounds of plastic. I think it is going to require a complete 'Frunkectomy' to remove the side covers and Frunk bin itself to gain access to the bumperstops and latch to see if there is a little vertical adjustment possible to reduce the effort to engage the second stop of the latch.

OP here with an update (3/10)... Yesterday, I went to the dealership to pick up my floor mats (BTW they let me apply my 22,000 points- $110 value—to the floor mat purchas). While there, the head of service came out to see the car, and I mentioned the hood issue. Turns out he was present for the video I posted of the dealer showing how the hood needs a real shove. Service head put generous amount of grease on the latch, and we opened and closed the hood 7-8 times. It did get some better. He said that was a temporary measure and he will monitor daily bulletins for a more proper fix. Meanwhile, he cautioned me not to let go while closing, as the sides would wobble and cause a problem; better, he said, to keep a firm hand on the center while following through to the latch.

Hmmm, where have I heard that before. ? We are all frunk newbies I guess, but eventually figure it out.

I've found for me that lowering the hood to a resting position, then pushing down directly over the latch works best for me. Slamming works too, but I don't like doing that.

The frunk hood is just very light, and the seal is very good. It needs a good slamming.

The aluminum F-150 doors are the same way. The seals are good, and the doors are so light they need a good shove to close them. It's not easy being green...

I promise it has nothing to do with the seal. It's about the latch; as acknowledged by my dealer's service head.

I would agree, it is not likely to be anything to do with the seals. Much more likely to do with the electronic latch and the big heavy return spring. I don't see any way to make it latch any easier other than replace that spring with a much lighter Duty spring.

With a little practice and a good smooth follow-through, not quite a slam usually works just fine

Yeah, you probably don't want to be arguing the Mach-e with Mr. RonTcat. You'll lose that argument ... miserably too.

I promise your dealer's service guy doesn't know as much about the Mach E as Ron.
