How do you get it on free trial??
It’s only available on the 2023 models at present. If you have a 2023 you can go to the My Subscriptions page on your Ford dashboard (www.ford.co.uk/dashboard) and activate it there.

If you have a 2021 or 2022 model you’ll have to wait until Ford release BlueCruise to the rest of us with older vehicles. (and no - we don’t know how long that will be as they are being a bit vague about it)

Good news on that one - you can either adjust the tolerance above or below the signed value it recognises - or you can just disable the feature completely.

It’s located in Settings —> Driver assistance

Any idea why I cannot find it anymore?

I know it was there when I picked up the car but the option for Tolerance is not there anymore.

a few of the settings have moved after the last couple of updates, not all of them obvious ( Charging, for example, is now with tyre pressure, etc ).

Just got this update today - again whilst driving - navigation screen had frozen was the only indication. Once I parked the update was visible. Seem to be gradually catching up to the US.

Just received that, too, my third in as many weeks. i thought something was amiss, as I kept receiving a message that drive mode wasn’t available, and it wouldn’t let me select one, either.

Other than the out of place buttons across the top ( in dark mode, they’re a light grey, and it looks like a glitch ), the moving of Charging from settings to apps, and the tweaked UI around the heated seats, I haven’t really noticed any useful changes. AFAIK, we still don’t have the pre-conditioning when on a route to a charger. Maybe next time….

Hopefully they should flow quite quickly now. They’ve released all the way up to 6.3.0 for MY21 which will bring it in line with all other years. ?

Got my 4.2.2.1 on Monday evening. All looking good to far. Only one exception is that my wireless charge pad seems to have gone back to be poor. When first got the car it wouldn't charge my iphone XR for more than a minute or two, then would just stop charging. The wireless pad is poor so just put it down to that.

One previous update I had when it was it at the dealer added an update of some kind and it transformed the wireless pad and I actually had a fully working charge all of the time. (albeit it still didn't really 'charge' the phone, but did keep up with the demand from the carplay etc)

since the new update - it's gone back to previous. Pop the phone on the charger - shows as charging. Within a couple of minutes - no longer charging. Pick the phone up, put it back on and it starts again and goes off again.

arrghhh...

I gave up on the wireless charger after about a month, I didn’t realise that they ā€˜fixed’ it. But the way the charger works I can never see it being functional with updates. As the charger isn’t magnetic it doesn’t make a proper connection with the phone so will never charge it efficiently.

Interesting that the update has reset a couple of settings.

There has been a long running issue between iPhones with the ring of magnets built in to support Apple’s MagSafe accessories and the Qi charge pads. Basically the wireless Qi charging pad has a setting to tell it to not charge if it detects any metal objects (safety thing) Unfortunately the magnets can get detected as metal so the charger stops.

In Ford’s diagnostic system FDRS there is a setting which dealers can activate that says ā€œignore metal detectionā€ for the charge pad. That normally remedies the issue for those having problems (plus there was a dealer software update for the pad that fixed some performance issues)

If you continue to have issues try charging the phone without a case as a test and see if that helps. If it does it may be that you have a very sturdy case on that is creating a too bigger air gap between the charging coils in the phone and car. If this gap is wide you just end up creating heat and not transferring charge.

I used various models of iPhone Pro Max over the years with the Mach-E and not had any issues with the wireless charger at all - so it’s not the design at fault

The Qi charger standard never included MagSafe as part of its design, which is why it screwed up when Apple decided to introduce magnets into the equation ?

thanks for the replies!

@Wonky_Donkey - I think the key thing which differs in your expansive explanation (which is great by the way), is that I'm not coming to this from a "my phone has never worked" point of view.

Between the dealer fixing it the first time via a manual update and the car updating itself on Monday (I was previously on 4.2.1.1 I think) the charger 'worked' fine - no interruptions to charge at all. Yeah the rate of charge wasn't great - but I can live with that.

Since the update on Monday - that's gone back over to the point that it simply stops charging after a minute or two. That may well be something to do with magnets or magsafe or metal detection for other people - but for me - I've got a iphone xr so it doesn't have magsafe built in, my case is the same one I've used for months, also doesn't have any magnets on it, and have used it without issue and nothing else has changed. The ONLY difference is the new update.

'something' seems to have reversed the previous update the dealer applied to my mind.

Sorry I do have a habit of rambling on and forgot that the XR didn’t have MagSafe. ?

My very poorly communicated point was meant to be that the update has potentially reset a module software option - which isn’t uncommon for certain updates - but it’s a pain in the bum when that option isn’t available to the customer to put back.
