Unintended Speed Change

I have been experiencing speed reduction randomly while in BC on the NYS Thruway. I realized today the car is reading the mile markers sometimes. (I think) They have some new ones that are larger every ten miles it seems and they appear to trigger the reduction. Only happens when in the right lane. Anyone else have an opinion on this.

I had been a proponent of using the speed limit sign but when I would drive to Albuquerque it would read the signs on the frontage road and bring the speed down to 45. I got used to that but turned it off before my road trip to California. Which was a good thing after I glanced down and saw it thought the speed limit was 85. It wasn't.
It's a nice idea but doesn't work well in practice.

Pretty common unfortunately. Many, myself included, turn off the speed sign recognition for this reason.

I’ve had a couple spots on I-81 north of Syracuse that the car would read a 65MPH sign as an 85 MPH sign. And another spot where there was no sign at all but the car would suddenly think the speed limit went from 65MPH to 45MPH. Its was reliable and repeatable so it wasn’t a one off. Good way to get a single finger salute from the people driving behind you.

I think it’s a great feature. I just wish it worked better than it does.

I wish it worked better too. I've had it read speed limit signs from side roads and mis-read signs on the freeway making me brake check people. Even worse, I've had it read a 35 MPH sign that was partially covered by a tree as 85 MPH.

There is one road near me that has a "weight limit 25 tons" sign. The sign is rectangular, vertically oriented, with black numbers on a white background. Every time I pass by it my Mach-E reads it as a 25 mph speed limit sign.

The feature is much worse on my Lightning, to the point I turned it off. It was the database, not the physical signs, out west. Kept dropping to 35mph. I gave Ford a bunch of recorded feedback...
