I wonder how long I can wait (patiently)

Almost 10 months without any info, Ford Marketing could easily be better...

I saw some VW ID.3 yesterday, ID.4 are coming soon.. then Audi Q4... even the Cupra Tavascan... If the delivery in Europe is postponed to the middle of next year, I could be tempted by something more available and cancel my FE....

uhm. I don’t know for sure but there isn’t just USA on this earth;)
What about Europe for example? Looks like most USA-people forget that ;)

Some heard that delivery take place in Europe in Feb, others heard March.
Should take at least 30 days with boat from Port of Veracruz to Port of Oostende/Bremerhaven/Rotterdam.
Then about 2 more weeks for local transport and paperwork, then 1-2 weeks for dealer to deliver.

Havent seen anyone from other continents here(like Asia for example).
still I’m curious if the Mach-E is only sold in USA/Canada/Europe or that it’s sold globally.
The comment you're quoting was directed at me, it wasn't an act of geographical ignorance. Quite the opposite in fact. I live in Hawaii which is why he mentioned Hawaii. He knew that because he was responding to a comment I made earlier and my location is in my public profile. If I lived in the Netherlands his answer would have been completely different. It was simply a reminder that shipping takes much longer when the car is destined for the world's most isolated archipelago.

So guess what? Shipping takes about as long to get to the primary port in the EU. The boat ride portion alone is about a month from arrival at one port until it's available at a EU port.

I can understand where you are coming from but in my opinion there is nothing around/due that I can afford/like. The ID3 is not suitable, the ID4 is not due in UK until mid 2021 and the Audi/Merc BEV's are not even in the running. I did look at the Peugeot e2008 (even had one on order) but it proved to be unsuitable. If I want to go down the BEV route then at the moment I am prepared to wait for my MME. I don't NEED a new car, my current Kuga is only just over 3 years old so ? it will last a little longer. I just love the look of the MME

It was not ment offensive towards you but most USA-people tend to forget there's more then "USA".

Hawaii should also take a few weeks for boat transportation isn't it?

How's your car being deliverd? directly from Veracruz to Hawaii or do they have a stop in between?

Yes the most isolated archipelago and home to the farthest point from the center earth. What I want to know is are you going to take the Saddle road going home from the dealer? I think the highest point on the road is over 6,600 feet above sea level. I didn't see any chargers along the way to Kailua-Kona when we were there last year. I did see some Tesla's and wondered how they got there.

This car is a big deal. Ford knows it. We know it. Why else would we wait this long? It feels worth the wait to me. I looked at the other offerings out there and still am here.
Ford has one shot at getting this right. To be a real alternative to the tesla. Starting with quality control, Tesla's glaring shortcoming. That should be easy for Ford. Ford's worst car never fell apart like any random Tesla does. Ford only needs to come close to the range, performance and other standard features. If they can keep the quality factor up, they win, period. if that takes a few extra months of prep, so be it. The tesla Y production during the pandemic took an even more serious hit on quality control. I've seen it first hand. It's truly mind boggling. So I do hope, and generally think, it's worth the wait. All that said, late 21 into 22, expect every manufacturer out there to have a capable EV in production. 2022 is a whole new ball game on that front.

So if everything does go right and November 23rd is good to go. Those cars are good to ship. Yes one closer will get it sooner then the dealership in Maine or over seas. If those cars only take 4 weeks or say even 3 weeks. What are we looking at now? Second or third week of December.
For some reason, the full magnitude of this didn't hit me until now. It means no customer is getting delivery before mid-Dec. And even that's if things go well and there's no more delays. Basically a 2-week window for some to arrive in 2020. During the holiday season.

I could easily see some FE deliveries spilling over into 2021 then. Kinda hoping I don't get selected off the waitlist now as $1500 of my state tax credit disappears if delivery doesn't make it in 2020.

But at least they can say that they stuck to their word and deliveries were made in 2020. They just didn't say how many they would deliver.

If you are going to lose out on government cash because of the delay speak to Ford and get a discount. Customers in the Netherlands have and are (apparently)

Correct! Got a 3k discount on catalog price as they couldnt deliver this year. Check Dutch topic for the full reason.

Maybe it is just me . . . but I've seen too many conflicting thoughts on this. Can someone on the inside, like @trutolife27 confirm that the OKTB date is really 11/23, and that really means that no cars get shipped until that date? Perhaps I am a skeptic and I don't really understand how this is all going to work, but we have heard about regular production starting in late September, then late October, and even if we go with that October date, does Ford REALLY let literally thousands of cars pile up on a holding lot for a month before letting them ship out?
Sounds kind of crazy to me, but if someone in the know confirms that, then I'll believe it.

One month if you're not living on Oahu. Plus delivery time to the port of embarkation. So approximately 6 to 8 weeks total from the time it rolls out the factory door. Those on Oahu can expect their cars about 1 to 2 weeks quicker as they do not have the interisland barge delays.

If you know when the car is being manufactured (VIN number delivered by a competent dealer), you can expect to actually see your car no less than 2 months later.

Yes. Every plant. Every time.
But for a launch like this, where you have a LOT riding on it, and customers who have been waiting a YEAR?

Yes.

I imagine there are about 100x the posts about this on the Bronco forums... they're gonna wait for OKTB, too.

I have not seen any official info from Ford with that pessimistic a time table.

The plan is still to start the assembly run of 2,000 or so dealer demos for NA on Sept 28th or just over a month away. Even at a slow start up rate / learning curve , that should not take more than 3 weeks.

It’s not like this plant has never made vehicles before --- it has been in operation for over 50 years and pushed out millions of vehicles for Ford, including the entire F-Series of trucks at one time. They should have the basics down.

After the demos, the 1,200 or so First Editions for NA is less than a 2 week run, finished by end of Oct. / first week of Nov. If these deliveries get into 2021 --- something very bad happened.

Actually, a good part of my FE has already been made, the battery pack will have left LG Chem in Poland and either on a ship en-route or in Cuautitlan. The BorgWarner Integrated Drive Modules will at least shortly be en-route. The huge software development is done and the memory modules / displays that will contain all this magic are completed. The windshields, side windows and glass roof are done and along with many other sub-assemblies will soon be making the trip to Cuautitlan to wait for their spot on the assembly line.

Getting anxious!
