I totally agree. My son is a medical clinician front line battling Covid. He is on me all the time about Masking, hand washing and no traveling for the holidays or anything else. I know we are all waiting longer than we expected, but if you think about all the moving parts to the process of assembling a vehicle? It's mind boggling! In order for people to stay safe and still produce a reliable product must require a ton of special steps that they ordinarily would not have to add. I think a little patience is in order.
It certainly is, along with a little communication from Ford!

I don’t usually comment like this on forums but just wanted to put the perspective out there. This is not intended as a dig or put down to peeps just my perspective. I get peeps various frustrations with Ford. The fact is this whole launch/vehicle is new for Ford and COVID has tipped everything on its end. IMHO it’s a little unfair to hold Ford accountable for things out of their control. Ford has stumbled but they are learning. They fully understand the consequences riding on the launch of this vehicle as it is their first ground up BEV.

COVID delayed the car and then OKTB delayed shipping. COVID? Ford had no control over. OKTB? Ford wanted to make sure a minor issue was addressed. A shoutout to Fords customer centric ideology. I don’t want to have to take the car back for repairs. Even if it’s an OTA update, Ford cannot manage the experience/expectation if they relied on the dealers/customers to do the first update. It’s good customer service and having set expectations enables a smooth transaction for everyone.

As far as communication? It’s easy to say in hindsight what should have been done. It’s also important to note what was not said. I don’t remember Ford saying that First Edition holders would get their cars first. That was speculation on the forums. As for the First Edition name, I always took it to mean it was the first of this model; Like a collector’s edition. I bought into the chatter and ordered the FE because I thought it was cool to get the limited edition and that I may come first. My cars just rolled off the line two days ago. Totally not getting it first despite reserving on 11/17/2019 and having a FE model.

The main point I am getting at is that peeps who reserved/ordered the vehicle have budgeted for a car that, up until this last month, didn’t really exist. It is clear peeps don’t need the car otherwise why wait so long for release when you can get something today. Getting upset for things outside your control only adds to your frustration. Ford is working the situation as best as possible. They are learning and I am sure they are taking notes. It’ll take time for them to build out a model for this new type of launch process. Complaining about any of this is just a first-world problem.

There are Pros and Cons to this whole situation. The positive (I would suggest to say) healthy way to deal with the wait is to go over the Pros/Cons. The following pertains to me, but I’d suggest peeps adapt them to their individual situation.

Pro: I will eventually get to drive a sweet ride.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I don’t have to struggle financially to get the car.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I have a roof over my head and food in my stomach.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I get to meet new peeps on the forums and get exposed to different idea/perspectives.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: Letting grievances go, for things you cannot control, adds to your overall wellbeing and reduced stress.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I still have my health

Etc. Etc. Etc.

In closing, always look at the bright side of life and nothing will seem as bad/frustrating as it may seem.

Bright Side of Life
Wise words my friend. Now if Ford could send more e-mails or use Zoom with a live stream from the Mexican assembly plant that would go a long way in their customer relations as well as showing off the tech that has been born with this pandemic.

Show me a forum where people don't complain. There is no such thing. Maybe at first, but eventually they all succumb. It goes with the territory. In any case, this launch has in reality, gone just fine, and not much different than any other new car year or new model launch. This forum generates excitement on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. It would be a quiet, long boring wait without it. I also get that people also sometimes need a place to vent their frustrations, and I too have vented my share over the years. But I try to be relevant and helpful when possible. In the end, we are very lucky to be able to wait for this great new Mach E!

Agreed! BUT if Ford communicated better with it’s customers there would be one less thing to complain about; think about it. My fourth grade granddaughter uses a program for online learning; how hard would it be for Ford to use the same technology to communicate with it's customers who ordered a 2021 Mustang Mach E. Also, Ford recently did an online virtual drive with a Mustang Mach E on a race track (Twitch); how hard would it be for Ford to do the same with Ford spokespeople talking about the car and the successes and trials in making it or going to the plant in Cuautitlan for a Zoom live stream video for it's customers? I know I would like to have this available to me and I bet most of you on this forum would too.

Update: Received a Production Date of 12/24/2020 last night! Must have made it in right before the plant shut down.
Where did you find this production date? Mine was scheduled to day for the 16th but haven’t seen any date populate in the trackers.

I would say they are running behind. By most accounts folks have seen their cars come off the line approx. 7-14 days after their build dates.

mine got a window sticker on the 16th but no updates since.

You will if you want to use it after 3 years.
For things like real-time traffic updates, yes. But not just for the Nav. We also won't have to pay for the connectivity required to use the app over cellular to control the car. A lot of manufacturers charge for it, so I consider that a win.

Well said
eastern refugee, see my post. I think it's time to put this portion of the thread to bed. This forum is a wonderful place to talk about and learn about our cars and I, for one, truly appreciate it (glad I don't visit the other forum too often as I wouldn't get nearly the information I receive here). We all have our own opinions and that's fine. Nobody has to change anybody else's mind. Let's all enjoy the holiday season; Merry Christmas and a Happy (& Healthier) New Year!

also my 1st time ordering a car. 1st ford. 1st ev.

i’m a physician.

i’ve spent most of my life depriving myself... studying, doing research or doing volunteer work instead of partying in undergrad and med school, time away from family and friends during those long years of residency (before they put in those work hour restrictions), delaying marriage and a family of my own because of the training/career....so now i am fortunate enough to afford nicer things. i am as excited as anyone for my mach-e (replacing a 13yo volvo i bought used).

but as a front line worker i have been masking for months, all day long, seeing patients, making sure i don’t bring it home to my family. and i am currently working in one of the countless packed hospitals here in california trying to keep people from dying... many are elderly but some in their 40-50s, my age. it’s heartbreaking any time but especially this time of year. and extremely frustrating at the same time.

i have another shift in the hospital towards the end of january, when my mach-e is supposed to be delivered.

yes it’s 4-6 weeks later than i had hoped. yes i will have to be patient and be deprived (nothing new for me). but it will be something nice to look forward to after what will be another tough month.

merry christmas folks and take care
Merry Christmas and stay safe. You and all other frontline healthcare workers have been in my prayers.

Info on my window sticker has changed and I’m not talking about the big date at the bottom. The number following the CUA has changed, the bolded four number digit right beside it also. Even the small date directly below special order has changed....wtf? I thought it was built December 15 as per Ford tracker tech page seems to indicate.
