UPDATED: Replacing Rear Shocks: Reducing the rear end bounce.

I just swapped my Koni Yellows back to the stock Ford struts for the Rally spring + Eibach sway upgrade, so that means I have the Konis available for someone else if you want them. They do improve rear end bounce, and while some of the newer mods are better, the Koni mod is still a great value in terms of time to swap and cost.

This set is fully modified and ready to drop in - includes the strut towers (drilled), the modified cap, the required spacers for the top and the bottom, etc. Literally drag and drop swap. They have about 20k miles on them, and as far as I can tell are fully functional.

If you are local to Colorado (Boulder pickup), you can have them for a 12-pack. If you aren't, call it actual shipping + $20 for me to buy my own 12-pack. Big thanks to the folks who buy a lot of struts to make life easy on us mortals, this is my way of paying it forward a bit.

I live in an area that has a lot of speed bumps and pot holes. Speed bumps and pot holes that I never really paid much attention to until I bought my 2021 Premium RWD MachE. The ride was so firm I could feel the bumps in my ribcage unless I slowed to a crawl.

A couple of years ago I upgraded to the Eibach progressive springs and that took the jolt out but the car remained very bouncy. Even though it was softer, the ride wasn't comfortable. Especially for those in the back.

This past weekend, I upgraded to Koni shocks in the rear with the help of the posts/work @markboris did.

Wow...what a difference! The Eibach springs still provide the softness, and the Koni shocks settle the car quickly. My wife even mentioned how much better the ride was without me reminding her that I'd upgraded the shocks.

I don't know how it compares to the rally spring mods popular lately, but I'm completely satisfied with how the car rides now. Firm like a Mustang should be, but not so crazy my wife or kids hate riding in it.

If anyone is on the fence about doing the Koni shock mod, go for it...you won't regret i.

Is your car a lease? I'm so tempted to do this, hell, to drive west to have Mark help me do it after some serious bribing.
But it's an expensive mod to a car that I may not keep. At the moment, I say that I will buy iy at lease end, but that's 2 years away.

As everyone knows (or should know) the spring rates in all Mach-E's prior to 2025 were very firm and the OEM shocks/struts were not firm enough to handle the spring rate which created the bounce. One of two things needed to happen, keep the OEM springs and install stiffer shocks/struts or soften the springs. Unfortunately no one makes a shock firm enough to handle the spring rates so I modified the one and only Koni that came close to working for the rear of the car. Still nothing available for the front. These Koni's are special in that you can adjust the rebound which is what needed to be done.

Starting in 2024, Ford came out with the Rally model that had springs 33% softer. The OEM shocks were now able to match up with the springs much better. The bounce was eliminated and you get a smoother ride. Starting in 2025, Ford lowered the spring rates on all models for a softer, less bouncy ride. They are NOT as soft as the Rally springs but they are much better than the previous years. That said, installing the Rally springs is still the best way to get the smoothest ride from this car.

No, not a lease. It's a car I plan on keeping and really enjoy other than the ride. Now that is fixed, I will keep for a long time.
