So, not terribly happy right now.
Checked my HVB temp while parked throughout the day since I have been in the office quite a bit these last few days. HVB temps closely follows ambient, which I wasn't expecting to see to be honest.
I just looked at it again about half hour ago. Ambient temp is about 108 I think.....
I turned off Climate Control and started the vehicle in accessory mode. Battery temp was 107.6 and inlet temp the same. A few moments later inlet temp dropped to 100.4 but HVB temp stayed at 107. (lots of mass there...). I got hot sitting there so I started the car and turned on the climate control. Inlet temp spiked to 111 yet battery temp remained the same 107. I think I sat there for a good 4-5 minutes and no change. Will probably need to drive it to get the temp to drop.
Here is an 18-20 second screen grab of the data log.
Was really hoping Ford would cool the battery while it was parked on plug like they did for the FFE.
I hope my battery deg isn't amplified by it not being cooled while parked out here during the summer. I will try some more data captures throughout the week and see if I can make any sense of the cooling strategy while parked (if any).
? ?
I believe the battery coolant temp sensor is up front just ahead of the forward motor so maybe it takes a while for the coolant to flow all the way through the battery and back up front? I will try it again and see how long before I see the temps drop any significant amount.
