I just got this from my Ford dealer this morning. I had the HVBJB done last week and got the fault a day or two later.

I haven't visited the Leaf forum since.

Certainly not to poke the current Leaf owners in the eye.
Not at all. I had a long insane story started here a few weeks ago and promised to finish it.

I've got nothing against satisfied Mach-E victims, but I do want the rest of us to know there is help. Now is the time to trade-in for any other used PH/EV with the tax credit applied as a rebate.

I do feel like a complete sucker now that I bought a Ford without test driving a Tesla first. And I have confidence that the lower cost Kia EV6 is good - much better than Ford. But there's no way to deny the superior Tesla charging experience.

I actually did fill out the form to get the free Tesla adapter from Ford in case I re-financed and kept it a while. And that's exactly what potential buyers need to know. Ford has thrown in the towel on the public charging failure and announced that 2025 and beyond models of Fords will ship with Tesla charging ports built-in. It's the worst time ever to get a Mach-E right now until the Tesla adapters are a given or built-in. But the last straw was that the anticipated ship date for my free adapter was October. Well there's a much quicker and better way to get access to superchargers, just get a Tesla instead and enjoy the lower supercharging prices. Never forget that Tesla offered for all the legacy guys to join supercharging from the start and they laughed at him. Who's laughing now? Not me because of all this negative Ford equity dumped on my used Tesla, lol, but I'm definitely much happier without the Mach-E. The first Tesla trip to a supercharger just to test it out was last night. It worked on the first try in just seconds - just like charging at home.

The good news for Mach-E owners is that if you need to supercharge a lot Tesla will only charge $12.99/mo for a membership to charge through the Tesla app and get the lower supercharging rates. But the typical owner would probably be much better off to just pay full price for occasional supercharging on trips - if Ford ever gets their app to work which is highly unlikely.

My only issue with your discourse is that you feel folks should do what worked for you, which is borderline mysery loves company.

I say that because in my opinion your story is really quite unique. I could be wrong but I think I could have purchased the same Mach-E that you purchased and had a considerably different outcome.

I obviously can't prove it though. :)

Are you a Tesla salesman? Thank you but no thanks; like never. I am avoiding super chargers also moving forward as I have been there done that with their magicdocks and it is twice the price of the one down the road. Do you think it is that Musk needs the money hence he is ripping people off? The MME has worked ok for me over the past winter not like it needs to do much it is just a car. Goes in gear, does the speed limit and gets me back what else is it to do? Ford made a mistake in software, has acknowledged it and are working to fix it. It happens and not everyone is perfect like some think they are.

Does this mean the 1PD fault is happening even with 1PD turned off? It reads like they are implying that it can.

A few days ago I would have a lot more agreement with you.

I am happy that you had a nice MME experience especially in a Canadian winter I suppose.

But now that I've put 2 and 2 together on the fact that Ford built a dumb non-self-driving cruise system into a car with dedicated hardware for tracking the driver's face, they have some more explaining to do. That was just a gimmick to push their cars into the "self driving future car" price range of a Tesla and then Ford put no effort into actually making the auto-cruise safe or sane.

As I was explaining my gripes about auto cruise I realized that most gripes do not apply to a simple cruise feature. So the face tracking really is the smoking gun in this mess. It is the sole reason that my expectations for this were higher. The fact that the cruise beeps and shakes the hell out of the car when the setting sun blocks the face sensors proves that Ford intended to put some "self-driving" into a production car. It also proves that their chosen method of tracking was laughably inept, but that's a slightly separate gripe. Basically, this thing is vaporware at its finest - lots of promises and nothing delivered except shoddy face tracking and a weird auto-cruise that constantly turns itself off. It's especially damning when you see older well-known competitors that already had far more capable systems on the market.

I think I'll post a detailed comparison and review of Ford's auto cruise in the Reviews section.

...traded-in the 2021 Mach-E Select AWD on Friday for a 2019 Tesla Model 3 that is ludicrously superior in every way except the pony lights.
So you are here just to troll and shit on the vehicle still.

I think I'll post a detailed comparison and review of Ford's auto cruise in the Reviews section.
If you actually want to reach people to make a difference with this review I highly suggest you put it somewhere FUTURE possible buyers might look. Twitter, Facebook, yelp, Ford.com etc 99% of people here own or owned this and already know everything you're about to try to sound off about.

1P failed while driving in engaged mode but so far has not failed in Whisper or Unbridled.
I've always driven in Unbridled and that's where I got the first failure. After the second one I switched to Engaged and just got one there. We'll see what Whisper does. Ford contacted me directly and confirmed they are working on a software fix and are still trying to determine what the HVBJB "fix" broke. When I asked if it was safe to drive, they stated I should talk to my service rep at the dealership. That was not the answer I was looking for.

The answer I don't know does not give you that warm fuzzy feeling?

Caution is in order you have felt it now and know what to expect. You could take it right off if you don't trust your reaction time. Never any sense racing up to someone and slamming on the brakes. Try whisper with us always whisper guys for a bit that's the fix ;)

I agree, I'm more alert now. I have it in Whisper and so far so good but I'm fine if I have to shut it off completely. I spent 35 years at a 3 letter computer company so I'm well aware of rollouts that don't quite meet expectations!

Mine has failed both in Engaged and Whisper modes.
