Thanks!

Doesn't say it was a mistake, nor that it will be reversed...
They will consider reversing in future updates. I don’t think anyone believes it was a mistake ??‍♂

If it was on purpose it's even more perplexing!
The point is we don't know. We can only guess about why it happened. My guess is they will change it back to previous behavior whether it was intended or not.

But I think their priority is getting BC updated and the latest version rolled out, which as everyone knows is coming soon. Maybe that change will also revert the display back to previous behavior? Who knows.

This is definitely a first world problem. I am just thankful I have an awesome car to drive that is more fun than any other car I have owned.

This problem is the gift that keeps on giving.

I can't wait to see more UX-designer cosplay dashboard reimagining ideas that look at home on a skin of Winamp in the late 90's.

It's such a hilarious contrast to the Fisher-Price "My First Car" interface we have now.

There are people with BC 1.4 and there are videos. The ipc is unchanged from the 6.8 update:

The beamoninig about the dash is so funny to me, the comment earlier about a junior dev is also funny. It's the more efficient and effective dash. I rather have the car constantly remind you that you are following too close personally.

Does it make sense to voluntarily withhold information that helps you drive safer? You have to remember this is not another car company that makes decisions that are potentially questionable from a safety perspective.

As a former Winamp employee it bring s a smile to my face to hear it mentioned and not forgotten.

Hey that tape and sharpie pen is an excellent idea. I can put the tape covering my speedometer and write a big 0 on it. That way when I’m stopped moving my speedometer won’t say 1 mph!

Today Ford Motor Company announced a response to customer outrage at moving the speedometer to the right side of the instrument panel on Mach-Es. "We heard them loud and clear" said Jim Farley, CEO. "We understand that some of our owners are very particular (he sighed at this point), and we want to be responsive to their needs (he muttered "whining" under his breath). Therefore, I am happy to announce, that with every free charging adapter that we are shipping this spring*, we'll be including a 3 inch roll of painter's tape as well as a 3 color set of Sharpie markers. "They can put the speedometer wherever they want, and for that matter write down any speed they want also. You want red, you got red. You want black, you got black. You want blue, you got blue. You want green, sorry, no green."

*spring is not defined as the season spring, but is a Ford used term to mean a non-specific period of time that will be defined months or years after it actually takes place
Outrage? I really never understood why people were whining about the speedometer, but I do believe that there should be some IP customization allowed, including moving the speedometer to different “Zones”.

That's the kind of multi-dimensional problem solving we're looking for at Ford! What are your thoughts on Post It Notes? Accordion fold is perfect in this application, am I right?

Thanks Mr. Rick, this gave me a chuckle!

Most of you should likely not read any further.

For those of you who don't understand what all the whining is about, I can explain mine. The other day I got into my 2016 F-150 and ran a few errands. It was a comfortable feeling - like putting on a well broken in pair of shoes, or re-connecting with an old friend. All of the controls and displays were right where they'd always been and I did not have to re-learn how to do anything or gather any data I wanted in order to operate the truck. If I needed to change the HVAC system, I could just reach over and do it without taking my eyes off the road, because I know where the controls are, and they have haptic feedback. I would note that the speedo is on on the right side of the dash in that truck, but it is a large easy to read analog dial.

For me, what I don't like is the jarring feeling I get when I climb behind the helm of my Mach-E and have to re-learn where things are (info displays or controls) in order to operate the vehicle. Part of operating the vehicle is a continual gathering and review of info, speed included.

This week I got in and pre-conditioning was turned on. I didn't do that. The seat and steering wheel heaters were on, as well as the HVAC system. I did not initiate that. Ford, or the car, or some software engineer did. It took me about twenty minutes of searching the owners manual and just fat fingering various software controls on the main screen to find that menu and turn it off. (I didn't find it in the owner's manual under pre-conditioning or HVAC controls). It is under the charging menu, for those who need it.

So that's what my whinging is about. Someone else is deciding for me what is the best way for me to control my car. The only way to prevent that is to disable the OTA updates which may also prevent me from getting needed fixes (like the way they fixed the hatchback pause). This is part of the paradigm shift from an analog world to a digitally controlled one, and it is this aspect of it that makes me regret my purchase, as much as I like the car. Every car purchase is a compromise, but in this world, the compromise keeps changing. Ugh.

I don't even mind offset, but jeez they pushed it to the very far right for no reason. 3/4ths of my display has no information in it, with a useless car in the middle. There is ACTUAL useful stuff they could put there. A power/regen bar would be nice, or a 'brake vs. regen' indicator.
I would love to see the power regen on the screen it does not need to be huge display just a little green and red bar would be fine.

Wow a Winamp reference. I love it and had a bunch of skins for it. That would be so cool if they would open it up and allow us to create and load our own skins.
