Today Ford Motor Company announced a response to customer outrage at moving the speedometer to the right side of the instrument panel on Mach-Es. "We heard them loud and clear" said Jim Farley, CEO. "We understand that some of our owners are very particular (he sighed at this point), and we want to be responsive to their needs (he muttered "whining" under his breath). Therefore, I am happy to announce, that with every free charging adapter that we are shipping this spring*, we'll be including a 3 inch roll of painter's tape as well as a 3 color set of Sharpie markers. "They can put the speedometer wherever they want, and for that matter write down any speed they want also. You want red, you got red. You want black, you got black. You want blue, you got blue. You want green, sorry, no green."

*spring is not defined as the season spring, but is a Ford used term to mean a non-specific period of time that will be defined months or years after it actually takes place

I find it interesting that owners don't like the off-center speedometer. This is not a new thing. My 70 1/2 Camaro Z-28 has a center area where the PRNDL would be on an automatic. To the left of center is the speedometer and to the right is the tachometer at approximately the same gaze location as the Mach-E. So off center locations are not new.

Fortunately, it's already been announced that the change was a f**k up and the change was 100% unintentional. In fact, if you look at the press release pictures of the upcoming Mach-E Rally that's running the latest UI update, you can see that the speedo has been moved back to the center of the screen. Additionally, the stupid 1990's blue house icon has been removed and replaced.

Change, back to the future, is coming folks!

The Ford Model A had an offset speedometer.

I don't even mind offset, but jeez they pushed it to the very far right for no reason. 3/4ths of my display has no information in it, with a useless car in the middle. There is ACTUAL useful stuff they could put there. A power/regen bar would be nice, or a 'brake vs. regen' indicator.

THIS ^^^^^

It is not that it is to the right as it is so much wasted space and useless car icon that is being under utilized.

Wait. Why can't I have green?

I drive an EV- I have a carbon-given right to make anything I want green, by virtue of my very own self righteousness.

How dare Ford's corporate fat cats line the pockets of their cronies over at Sharpie, forcing me to buy my own aftermarket green marker! It'll probably void my warranty.

Not OTA, that'll come in a box.
