I was all set on getting an Energica electric motorcycle once my commute started up again, but when I crashed my Vespa and broke some bones, my wife took the Energica off the table. I started looking at PHEVs, but my wife wanted to go full BEV. I came across the DeMuro video on the Mach-E and I was sold. Mainly for the looks, the tech, the acceleration, and a display in front of the driver.

My 2016 Model S 70 seat was much lower to the ground than is the MME. I was having trouble getting into and out of the Tesla with my 70-year-old knees. I have no such trouble with the Ford. YMMV. :)

oh yeah, i misunderstood; thought you meant ground clearance. I totally understand the knee issues. I also like the higher ride in the MME

Styling is #1.
Fun to drive.
Price point I was willing to pay.

Reviews, looks, and electric. My previous car was very loud with remote start up in the morning, waking up my wife and neighbors. I get to work 30-40 mins early every day, because I hate to be late. So I would sit there and the engine would be running most times because its very hot/cold, burning gas. This may sound bad, but I don't really care. I don't care about burning gas, saving trees etc, being loud and wasting money idling for hours each week was getting old. And maintenance on the old car was pricey. First EV care I ever drove.

I am VERY happy with 97% of the vehicle. Just one big problem and few small annoyances. Hopefully things get ironed out.
Aren't you the guy who was talking about burning his car a week or two ago??? ;)

My husband was watching that video when I looked up and saw it and told him I really liked it - saw it from the side first. Thought it was a Porsche at first, which surprised me because I don’t really like the looks of Porsches.

I was interested in EVs casually, but I will not give elon musk my money. Plus the Tesla across the street has had a lot of issues and I’ve seen support there too many times.

I totally bought it for how it looks. It’s what hooked me, the rest has just been fun. I bought mine off the lot, I would have picked a different colour if I had ordered, but I’m actually glad I got space white. Its a unique colour that seems to pick up tones from its surroundings which is cool. The paint gets just as many compliments as the car. I had no idea what I bought honestly. If I knew I’d get so much attention, I would not have bought it. It doesn’t gel with my misanthropic personality ??

I didn’t want a Tesla. I respect the tech but absolutely despise the owner and refuse to give him any of my money. I knew I wanted to go electric as my next vehicle but I didn’t want to compromise. I wanted at least 250 mile range but I also wanted speed. I also preferred a car design that didn’t look like a catfish. So I reserved a GT and ordered a GTPE. The icing on the cake is that my favorite color is orange and they are the only EVs available in any shade of orange.

It’s an EV
It’s not a Tesla
It looks beautiful and feels luxurious
It has a name I’ve always wanted to own

That’s a really nice car. I didn’t do enough research and didn’t know a GT was coming- but I got a vinyl grill to match the GT. Orange is a really nice color, stoked for you. I’d be a little more jealous if the range was 270 like mine, so at least I have a little something to hold onto.

It was less than $45k out the door so it both qualified for the $7500 tax credit and the WA state sales tax exemption*

Wasn’t my intent to buy one - but here we are happy as a clam!

I feel you on that! I am exactly the same! That tax credit was like, alright, makes it about the price of a really nice gas car- but saving on $5+ gas in LA, it made it almost a no brainer. My apartment charges $20 a month unlimited for charging.

In my parking garage, the day my neighbor got the Mach E, he bumped into my KIA while trying to park. I asked him to give me a tour of it, and drove me around the block.
I simply went to the dealer to test drive it, curious about the EV and I left with the car. Still a little surprised I bought it, but the screen and EV was appealing. I love it.
Not a Tesla
Build quality
Amazing performance… compared to most ICE cars

Similar to most people here, I suppose, but I'm surprised at how many impulse buyers there are. I've never impulse purchased a car in my life... My grandfather taught me his technique - find the perfect car for you - then wait 2 years and buy it lightly used to avoid the depreciation. This was the first time I've ever violated gramps' rule and purchased a new car, but I felt like the benefits were there.

We've been driving a hybrid since 2008 (lightly used Prius), so PHEVs and other hybrids had no interest to me. Old news. Good stuff for the mid 'aughts but we are past that now. We knew our next car would be a BEV. I was waiting for:
  • BEV with EPA range over 250 miles
  • Good storage space, but couldn't be longer than fit in my driveway, or wider than my garage (a real problem - this knocked the eTron out of contention)
  • AWD for CO winters and mountain trips
  • Fast enough to be exciting to drive, but not so fast that it is full on mid-life crisis territory
  • I was willing to splurge, but the cost still needed to be a reasonable value (no Porsche or Jaguars for me)
  • Preferred "not a Tesla", but was willing to go that way if they were the only ones I could get what I wanted from
  • Good looks, comfortable interior, advanced features, though no individual feature was a dealbreaker
I looked past the MachE several times because there was no way I would consider a Ford (I've been a Toyota/Subaru man), but it just kept coming up in my searches, and when I built The Mighty Spreadsheet for comparing cars it just kept pushing to the top. Finally stopped fighting it, and placed an order. Loving it so far (just three weeks) - quiet, comfortable, fast, practical, and gets a lot of positive attention.

I’m a stress purchaser okay? ?? i don’t think I’ve ever dropped so much money without regret and I’m the type to regret spending $20 on something silly.

this was my first brand new car, my previous car was one that fell under your grandfathers rule and I thought I was fancy then! Previously my other cars were 10+ yrs old when I bought. I never thought I’d buy a new car from a dealer. i saw this car and wanted it so bad I hunted one down to buy so I didn’t have to wait to order.
