Oh ok, interesting. I've never heard of this type of feature. I've only owned Ford Focuses since I've been driving. 20 years, 3 Ford Focuses.
Now that I think about it, my newer Fords (13 Explorer and 17 F150) don’t have that feature. Maybe the 00 F150 was unique?

My 95 explorer had that, it said ICE or something more obvious.

If I remember correctly, my 1990 Probe had it (ok, hangs his head in shame for admitting to owning a Probe).

Many cars have had something like this for years. It's supposed to alert drivers of deteriorating conditions that they may not be aware of in the middle of a journey. My 2000 F150 had it.

I guess you could stick your hand out the window every hour or so and check that way. :D
The car has an outside temp thermometer.

The snowflake seems redundant.

I would prefer they got rid of it and used that space to make the power meter larger.

Or at the very least put a little sun with a smiley face to remind us in Florida that it sucks to live up north in the winter. ?

wild stab in the dark, battery cold indicator.
agreed. Many other BEV's have a similar indicator, and it often means that the regen capability is reduced/unavailable. It should be described in the manual, however.

Comes on at 4C, which is about 39F. I have it 10 out of 12 months of the year. Seems industry standard to have that threshold, has been on all my cars.
I want to move to a milder climate...

Not if in the car. Think of it as a black ice warning.
This. It's somewhat because a lot of people don't expect ice at air temperatures above 32 deg. F / 0 deg. C / 273 K / 492 deg. R.
