Because I want to drive more efficiently (regen) and not waste my physical brakes.A question for you - why does anyone need to know when friction brakes engage? Curiosity, sure, but it makes no difference to your driving. The car is slowing down, one way or the other. It doesn't really matter if you're using friction or regen when it comes to not hitting the car in front of you.
This conversation has gotten WAY off track. My original point is that I would like a button on the steering wheel so that I can use just the regen by pressing it (no chance of using physical brakes). Yes, I can (and do) hit the 'L' button, but it is in an awkward spot, and I have to turn it on/off.
