Ford picked up my car on Monday for state inspection, to look at the sound coming from the rear when I make turns (there’s a bulletin on that), to replace all the wipers, and to update all the modules (for those who’ve been following my frunk whining, this is it).

This afternoon, around 4:30 PM, the dealer called to let me know that they’d be installing the new suspension (?) components tomorrow, finalize the inspection, and that then get my car back. They made a point of telling me that they’d spent the day with the car on FDRS, doing all the updates.

This evening, around 7:00 PM, I get a message in FordPass that 4.2.5 was successfully installed. What gives? I thought PowerUps didn’t deploy if the modules had been manually updated via FDRS?

Well, they did do a HVAC update yesterday, but FDRS installed the older version for some reason. Then you got the OTA for the latest version.

And I'm sorry to inform you that they did not install all the updates. Here's what you have available right now:

Does the frunk button work on the screen now? Or did they forget to run the routine in FDRS to enable it? They updated the GFM and BCM so it should be possible to work now.

I don’t have the vehicle back yet so I can’t confirm frunk functionality.
Is it critical to update any of the other modules or are they “nice to haves”?

Well if you don't have the new UI with the camera button at the top, then they need to do that PCM update in order to unlock the 4.x OTAs for you. OBCC is important for DC charger compatibility.

A lot of those are nice bug fix updates and have bulletins they can bill against - wireless charger, DSP, RFA, door modules, etc. I would definitely push to get them to get you current while it’s there!

Thanks! I do have the new UI. I’ll ask for the OBCC at a minimum.

Make sure you specifically ask them to run the routine that adds the frunk soft button. Did you print the screenshot of that?
Thanks. Yes, I printed those screenshots, but I’ve been dealing with them by phone so there’s no way to hand them a screenshot (I suppose I COULD drive over ?)

It's probably worth it if they imply that they don't know what you're talking about. That routine takes seconds to run.

Jimrpa “might" get a frunk button? Say it isn’t so….. I for one will miss the comments. But you are leaving the rest of us behind.
