Maybe because gas stations 99% of the time are also convenience stores as well as gas stations. Most charging areas that I have been too are usually at hotels or backs of parking lots or in the middle of a town, so no place to just grab a quick drink and a snack like gas stations offer.

this is one reason why I think Emusky might also be a future genius. I vaguely remember reading an article where he was talking about opening a food chain. If he really does open up chargers to everyone and has decent food / service, like a Cracker Barrel on crack? Or off crack? In addition to having enough land in his original permits for said charging stations to build restaurants. (I have no idea never been to a single station) He could own a feel like those old school drive in roller skate type restaurants my parents went to just waiting to happen… without any extra fumes.

Or Ford should do all that.

He did mention something of the sort. Most Superchargers are near restaurants and shopping. Some have their own lounges with nice vending machines and coffee bars, Kettleman City here in CA comes to mind. But I also think that eventually charging technology will catch up to the point that it won't take more than a few minutes to charge and go, much like gasoline fillups now.
