Because it isn't a Tesla and there are a lot of Tesla fanboys out there. Otherwise, there really is no reason to hate on Mache. I'm biased, but I think it is the best EV. Manufacturers are trying too hard to make their EVs look like spaceships and futuristic. Those designs aren't going to age well at all. Look how bad the Ioniq 5 looks.
I think at this stage, the haters outnumber the fanboys.

Tesla has sold too many for all their owners to be consider fanboys. I think the vast majority of Tesla owner can give a rip about Elon or his politics. I think most owners just want a car the works. And in the ev world, Tesla own that space. Their cars are reliable, their charging network works seamlessly. They really donā€™t care too much about panel gaps. I donā€™t think most people notice.

Despite what the internet say. Most people do not want their cars to stand out. They want non offensive color and styling.

Very happy with our '22 GT, wife says she never wants another ICE vehicle. Had a '21 Select before that which we were also happy with except for wanting more range.

Honestly the signal : noise ratio on this forum with the same people who troll every thread with the same complaints has made me visit less often.

2021 GT here with 34,175 miles and the only maintenance I have done is swap out the cabin air filters and the wiper blades. Well that's not exactly true, there have been several software updates and I currently have it in the shop to fix the "pre-collision assist not available" messages that have popped up off and on for the last several months. I will have Ford swap out the HVBJB under recall once the parts are available. We intend to keep it for at least a few more years. I'm curious if the EV tech will continue to get better and cheaper, or if the bubble is going to burst. I'm not convinced either way right now.

You will realize the value of the Mach-E when you have to leave it at a dealers shop for a day or two. When they give you a loaner and you can't wait to get back in the car.

Thank you. Yes, there are many owners who are not fanbois. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm one of those who bought a Tesla simply based on requirements. I ended up with a 2nd one for the same reason.

I hang out on the MME forum, the ioniq 5 forum and the tesla forum... those were the big 3 when I was looking and I like to see how things are going. I don't troll and generally offer constructive criticism or praise (see my history).

For the curious, in 2021 I wanted a plugin to replace my Prius with more cargo and the ability to go on long trips. That left me with the MME CA Rt1, Model Y Long Range, or Toyota Rav4 Prime. Toyota wanted 20% over MSRP. The decider between the Ford and Tesla was charging infrastructure. This was back in 2021, so it was an easier choice then.

2nd car: I wanted a commuter I could take to the racetrack (road courses). Honestly, nothing really fit my budget other than the Model 3 Performance. 0-60 in 3.1 for <$50kā€½ā€½ plus a dedicated "track mode". In the end, the joke was on me because both road courses by me have temporarily banned EVs on track!

All I'm saying is that some of us who have Teslas aren't in love with the brand or the CEO... sometimes they just check all the boxes.

I'm honestly pulling for Ford (and other US EV manufacturers). I want America to lead the way in EVs

To be fair, we had a lot of issues with our Mach-e's.
Most of them have been fixed through software or physically.

1. slow fast-charge at cold temperature
2. windshield and moon roof not fixed properly
3. a lot of software glitches
4. HVBJB issues on big batteries models
5. camera stopped working
6. water in tailgate
7. 12 volts battery dying
and a lot more issues.
This is true. I have had to replace my front half-shafts (a common issue which causes clicking on sharp turns), replace the front camera coaxial cable (another known issue), and have some sort of recall performed on the windshield/roof assembly (cannot remember the details). But all this was done under warranty/recall and doesn't seem overly concerning for a first year model car. The HVBJB will likewise be replaced under recall.

So are these early model hiccups the basis for predicting poor reliability in the future? Or maybe there are lots of other less common issues stacking up that I'm not tracking. I would be curious to know how CR evaluates that.

Personally, for the last nearly year my car has been mechanically flawless (except again for HVBJB, which has not caused me any issues but is subject to recall). My only gripes now are software bugs, but I would expect that overall the SYNC software and tech stacks up as good or better than all but the Tesla.

I guess I am one of those you try to avoid(HVBJB) but

I have been on a number of car forums and by far this is the best, the people here are the nicest most knowledgeable people around willing to help anyone.

when you have a real problem you might want to check back here and get help from those people.

Which is why folks drive sh*tboxes like Toyotas.

That's kinda harsh. Just because you don't like Toyotas doesn't mean that they're bad cars. Despite what you may believe, the vast majority of people see their cars as appliances. It gets them to work/school and then gets them home. For these people, reliability is number one. They just need their cars to work.

Oh I know... they just want the cheapest appliance that's so called reliable (very debatable for the American built Toyotas that have QC issues). My brother is an example of this demographic and so are many of my co-workers. It's either Toyota or Honda for them with zero research into alternatives. They won't even consider an EV because of "charging issues" (which they never specify).

I test drove 12+ EV/PHEVs at the Austin Electrify Expo including 3 Toyotas. They were okay appliances but $10-15K overpriced. I owned a 21 Prime XSE and the 23 Prime XSE is minimally upgraded but still $50K and comparable to a $35K car with a $15K drivetrain.

EDIT: I'm renting a fairly new 2023 Camry SE for the week (not my choice) and for a $30K MSRP car... it has a key ignition (no start button). I only thought 10 year old Kia used keys only lol. You can buy a Model 3 RWD with an EV tax credit for the same price is this anemic powered Camry with a budgety interior and infotainment/audio ripped out of a 10 year old car.

we love ours...both of them. We don't travel in them so long distance charge issues are not a problem. More comfortable than any of the others I have been in and built reasonably well.

Mach-E still going strong. My friend bought a Bolt EUV in Summer of 2022, he pinged me today with an honest question:
"umm, with Mach-e used being so cheap why would I not trade in my Bolt for a Mach-e?"

Well now he is testing mine this weekend, getting wife approval and then buying one. I found him a nice Premium ER AWD for 33k.

I travel in mine, a lot, fast charging is never an ā€œissueā€ very adequate, it charges fast enough for pee & tea stopsšŸ˜

UK infrastructure, I think, sounds far better than in US though.

Over 72,000miles bought c23,500kWh of which c6,000kWh on DCFC.

And the look, oh that look, thereā€™s no better looking carā€¦ā€¦.IMO I will add before Iā€™m trolledšŸ˜¬

My MME was in the shop for a month getting the HVBJB replaced and I was given a new Kona (non-EV). And let me tell you. I could not wait to get the Mach E back. Wow... I forgot how spoiled I was.
