Will ceramic coating help with bugs on the front "grill"?

This is our first vehicle where the bugs we murder as we travel are quite noticeable (due to the Mach E's front design).

If we have a ceramic coating applied professionally, will we get less bugs and/or will the bugs come off easily?

Absolutely. There's no way to get less bugs but they will come off much easier

Bugs and bird poop will come off easily if they're fresh. Once they're dried up, it'll take a bit of soaking before it comes off. When properly rehydrated, the krud should wipe off with relative ease.

You don't need to have it professionally applied. You can do it yourself. Watch some YouTube videos and buy it off Amazon. Or you can use a ceramic spray (I use armour) that'll work just as well, but needs reapplied every couple of months.

I use the Turtle Wax Hybrid ceramic based on recommendations in this forum. It obviously isn't as good as a professional ceramic coating, but I've been very happy with it. Two coats and most bugs come off with spray from the hose or even normal rain. It easily lasts a year. It is not the easiest to apply - it has a tackiness to it that makes it a little hard to buff, but it is not terrible.

This has been my go-to wax for several years now, for the low price and durability (6-12 months for most people/environments) it's hands down the best coating on the market.

I had my car professionally ceramic coated 4 years ago. No regrets on that, the paint looks factory new. As for bugs, a quick rinse with the wide nozzle on the pressure washer gets the vast majority of them. I do use Griot’s products as a topper though.

I have professional ceramic for a year. Fewer bugs and they easily come off. Very happy with it.

It’s not the bugs that you have to worry about. It’s all the chips that will make your grill look beat up after a while.

I’d opt for PPF instead for a more holistic protection.

As others have said, yes, a ceramic coating will make it a lot easier to clean off bugs. Having a professionally installed ceramic coating is a good option. But if you want to save some money, you can buy and apply a DIY ceramic coating. 2 very "user-friendly" and easy to install "light" ceramic coatings are Gyeon Cancoat Evo (around $65) and Armour Detail Supply Phobic ($80). Although not as strong as a 3-5 year professional coating, they will last 18-24 months and will provide more protection and last longer than a ceramic spray sealant like Turtle Wax Hyrbrid CS or Armour Detail Supply Ceramic Spray Sealant.

The higher the concentration of ceramic solids, the stronger the protection. For example Armour DS Phobic has about 25% concentration of solids. Armour DS Quartz Coating has 66% concentration.

Since we are throwing around DIY recommendations - I have a strong one for Gyeon MOHS evo - it's more durable than something like cancoat as it's their flagship coating - and it was INCREDIBLY easy to apply. It goes on very wet, it sweats within seconds to let you know when it can be wiped, and then it wiped of super easy without having to worry about high spots. It was the fastest ceramic coating I've ever done and it's shown durability to exceed years in tests. They claim 36+ months durability which I believe.
Crazy hydrophobic as well. I had bugs all over the nose and I took the pressure washer to them and one quick rinse spray, before I even got to foaming down the car and the bugs were gone.

Ideally you should do full paint decon, polish, IPA wipedown or other prep to get it to bare paint with no other coatings, fillers or contamination.

I did the wife's brand new GT last weekend and even with a single stage finishing polish, the whole process from the start at 8am went through to 2pm. It's time consuming any way you cut it.
