I just saw a video about BMWs ADAS and it seems much more primitive than BlueCruise (no real hands-free, no real speed sign recognition.) It looks like all it does is lane centering at a set speed with adaptive cruise control and provides “hands free” below 40 mph for “traffic jam assist”. The one thing that was demonstrated was driver-initiated automatic lane change. The driver would use the turn signal to request a lane change, and the vehicle would actually perform the lane change without driver input.
Will we be getting that?
