Just got mine fixed! I’m so excited. Had this from day 1 on my 22 Mach e premium. Went to greenway ford in Orlando to fix. They reprogrammed the window module to make sure it closed properly. Made it better but didn’t fully fix it. They then taped off the mirror and piece by piece removed tape until they found out what was causing the noise. It’s the gap/seam where the mirror connects to the car. They filled this seam and the noise disappeared! Drove 80 mph on the way home with no radio and no ac and only heard typical slipstream. I can finally enjoy my car!!

Do you know exactly what part of the mirror needed the tape, and what kind of tape was used? Is it something that seems like an average user can do, or did it require disassembly of the mirror unit? Would love to give this a try.

They didn’t have to take apart the mirrors. It’s literally that bead of sealant between the mirror and the door in the picture. Where the plastic from the mirror is meeting the window seal.

Thanks for the quick response! Will take a closer look and see about fixing this one. The wind noise doesn't always bother me but there are some days when it's really prominent; if I could get rid of it, the driving experience would be just a bit more amazing.

i am having the same wind noise at speeds above 60km from the driver side window, more noticeable when there is a cross wind. Also if I push the power window switch up you can hear the window move up slightly, although I never opened the window but the noise is still there. It is all quiet on the passenger side.

Literally was the same thing I was experiencing. Definitely more noticeable in a cross wind. Literally the noise was so bad that with my volume at 8/9c it still sounded like my speakers weren’t on on left side cuz all I could hear was the wind noise. And bringing the window all the way up didn’t solve it. First time I took to a dealer they said am they heard it and another car they tested sounded the same. So that’s just the way it is. But it was driving me nuts. So I took to a different dealer a few months later and now it’s fixed per post above!

I was getting anxiety every time I went over 50mph. And the highway was brutal. Hard to justify paying 50k+ for a car that had that issue. So glad they were able to fix it. I was at the point of considering a trade-in…. After it got fixed, I was driving everywhere and it was awesome!! Felt so much better and less annoyed!

What did they use to fill it? Or just any clear silicone?

Not sure. I didn’t ask. It actually seemed like it had a black tint. I know it looks clear, but it def has black to it. They said they’re going to push the fix up to Ford for a service bulletin so others can apply same fix. I said the people in the forums would appreciate that because there’s plenty of us with the issue!

I did a test run today by just taping that area of the mirror (prior to doing the silicone). It made a considerable difference in my opinion. I have been following this thread for months and I knew eventually someone would get to the bottom of this. I too took my car into the dealer. I think they attempted to look at it, but they said they drove another 22 and it did the same thing, so therefore just the way it is. This has been one of the final issues with my car that just drives me nuts, so glad there appears to be a resolution.

Are you going to take to the dealer to fix? I still think it’s a tolerance issue and based on others’ experiences, it sounds like only some of the cars have the issue. Id still love to reach out to Ford to get a permanent fix. Don’t get me wrong, the seal doesn’t look bad and it fixed the issue. And I’m loving driving it. But it’s still annoying that the dealer had to do something extra to fix the car and that cars are rolling off the Line with a quality issue like this to begin with.

I wonder what this means. I'd like to be able to wave something at my dealer when I go in for my 10,000 mile inspection. I have the driver side window noise as well.

They have a program they can run that has the window find the top and bottom and set that so the auto close works better. I read about that in a bunch of other forums. And the dealer confirmed that’s what they did.
Honestly the sealant is what truly fixed it for me.

Decided to test this. After taping the seam, there was a small improvement in wind noise of 1.3 dB @ 70 MPH. The quality of the sound was also improved slightly, sounding a bit more laminar with less buffeting.

Overall it’s not nearly as significant as my roof wind noise I recently solved, but perhaps on other Mach-E’s the mirror gap sound could be louder than my car.

Yeah. I never experienced wind noise from the roof. Just the window. Sorry you’re going through that issue though! I know how frustrating these noises in the cabin Can be!
