A few questions regarding X plan and Ford Options:

1) did I have to declare my intent to use either when I placed my original order? If I didn’t am I just SOL?

2) My impression is X plan is basically $700ish off? Is there another benefit I am missing?

3) since this is an order through them and not me going after a random allocation, how much can they really mess with me?

Options has nothing to do with X-Plan. X-Plan is a 2% discount off MSRP plus $275. Limit of $100 paperwork fee. You cannot use it on 2023s Dealer can decline to take it. PIN is needed at time of purchase, not at order.

Options is a payment option. Most dealers will do it.

You didn't mention much about the car you ordered (Year, Trim, etc) so I should clarify, Ford won't take X-Plan on 2023 orders. Since we are getting to that point many are ordering or getting dates for their 2023 cars, it may save you some time even worrying about it.

1. Yeah, you definitely should have done this. I am pretty positive in the guide to X-Plan it says to advise the dealer of your intent to use it first thing. Doesn't make you SOL, but I am blown away that the dealer wouldn't have discussed pricing with you at all where you could have brought this up. I don't know how it will go honestly in this market. Pre-2020, it likely wouldn't have been an issue.

2. It's a certain percent under MSRP, but it's a little weird with the Lightning and Mach-E as to what it takes off. A-Plan was worth about $3k on my Premium, I think it may be $1000-1500 for the Mach-E depending on trim level. It also sets some limits on certain doc fees and that. It's better to have X-Plan than not in most cases.

3. They can just say they won't do the deal if you push on X-Plan then sell it to someone else. You don't have any real claim to that vehicle if you didn't put money down and have some binding agreement. If you ask about X-Plan, and they say they aren't doing it right now, and you say no biggie I am fine paying MSRP, then there is no reason for them to mess with you, but no guarantee in any situation.

Good luck,

It’s wise to verify your dealer takes x-plan before the order gets assigned to them. X-plan also prevents dealer from adding ADM’s.

2022 GTPE ordered 3/1 set to be delivered (supposedly) 10/15ish. Ultimately I didn’t even know I qualified for X plan until a few months ago so it wasnt money I was counting on so I have no real desire to push it if they fight me on it.

I made sure that my dealer would have accepted X-plan (they had a nearly $1k doc fee...which is insane) and probably would have had the order transferred elsewhere if they had not. I did get it in writing at the time I finalized the order with them. When I checked on my order back in July I noted that they had it coded in their order as an X plan deal as well.

My dealer happens to be right on the other side of the fence of where I work, once I mentioned that my union has an X-plan agreement with Ford and that I would mention that to those that I work with, they softened on it and decided to accept it.
